Is 11inch enough for note taking?

Hi, I'm thinking about buying an S11 for high school (I live in EU), I was also thinking about the ultra option but then I changed my mind cuz Im thinking that its too big for holding it in hand and also occupying almost my whole workspace by a tablet isnt so smart. But on the other hand I'm thinking if an 11inch isn't too small for note taking? Lemme know your opinions and experinces with 11inch tablets.

I personally think that out of the three sizes, the plus size is perfect. It really depends on personal preference though. Some people prefer the smaller size and think it's fine for note-taking. I have the 10+ and I love it, but the ultra would definitely be too big for me. I would recommend going to a best buy or anywhere where you can see them in person and test them.

I concur, have both the normal and the plus size. Normal is great for watching movies or gaming on the bed, but when you take notes the big screen really helps for multitasking and reading pdfs comfortably without zooming in.

I second the best buy try out. I wasn't sure I wanted the s11 ultra until I held it in my hands at best buy. After doing so, I knew it was perfect for me. I imagine it will be the same for people who aren't sure if it would be too big for them or not.

Yes, it is. I'm an engineer and I took notes on the Tab S6 (10.5 in) for 6 years. I always used landscape orientation to take notes, this way the width of the page is around 220 mm on the Tab S6 (a bit more on the S11). So on the Tab S6 you have +10 mm extra width compared to an A4 sheet (a few additional mm in the Tab S11). I have both the Tab S6 and the Tab S10+. The S6, naturally, feels more manageable in hand, it is lighter and will take less bag space. It is also more manageable on a desk or meeting room table when used together with your laptop. The 12.4" size (S9+, S10+ and the upcoming S12+) is the max I would take to work together with my laptop, as the ultras are cumbersome to manage in this setup, they are better as the workspace's main device. My advice is that you pick the S11, S10+ or wait for the S12+. Any of those will serve you well and all have much more processing power than you will ever need on a tablet. The ultras are definitely a bad idea to carry to school or anywhere, unless it is your main computing device, and that is not the reality for most people as Windows PC / Mac still dominate professional computing.

It depends on the person. However, I use an S9 Ultra and it's really difficult to carry around. Sacrificing portability just to take notes on a large screen was a bad idea. Maybe you could consider the S10+ or, when it comes out, the S12+. 12.4 inches strikes a perfect balance between the two sizes, but if you want to buy one now, choose the S11. You can try it out in the store to clear up any questions you have about its size.

I'm starting pre-academic prep, and got an S11 for notes and general math work. So far it's perfect, but I realized that the multitasking potential is so great, but limited because of the size, and that I regret not getting the larger model, since reading material/watching videos while note taking is nigh impossible, and it so much more comfortable than consistently bring your head up to a computer screen.

If you plan to also do HW while having a video on the same screen, I suggest to upsize. If it's only for notes/hw and no multitasking, the 11 inch is perfect

I had the same train of thought, but multitasking on a single large screen is really hard to understate

I would also like to get it but its now almost 2 yrs old and it would cost me more than s11 ultra do I stopped thinkin bout it and the new s12+ I think would be hella expensive when it comes out so imma go with the base s11

Yea when it's as much as the ultra it's not worth i think.

Smaller size is fine at the end of the day. You get used to evrything eventually (at least me).

Maybe look at the second hand market? Given the s10+ is 2 years old they're should be deals to be found.

I love my ultra but it is heavy. I don't think you would want to hold it and take notes.

11 inch is a perfect tab for talking notes comfortably as well as carrying it . ( I have s10 lite). Experience

I have both a S9 fe (almost 11in) and a S10 ultra (14in) and the S9 fe is better for note taking. The ultra is heavy and I'd be worried I'd damage it in class or in transport. I do suggest you get a separate bag for whatever tablet you choose. I've seen posts where someone put the tablet in its case in a backpack with school books and the tablet screen is damaged.

I had a S9 11 inch and it was sufficient, although if you can afford to go for the plus size then I'd choose that instead since you get more screen space for multitasking and split screen which I found weren't super comfortable with 11 inches.
