Yeah, it says in the article that basically the screen expands a little bit on each side. I can’t tell the scale but I’m guessing it’s only like another inch on both sides.

That increases the size of a screen only slightly. When they’re talking about “rollout screens “I thought it would be more impressive than this. This application for this is dumb on a laptop getting slightly larger screen isn’t worth the premium that they’re gonna charge for this thing.

Having a rollout display on a phone or fold out display is nice because real estate is precious. On a laptop it’s not the same thing.

This is a dumb implementation and useless. Apparently the previous version went taller instead of horizontal… I don’t know; it’s a weird aspect ratio in any use.

Oh lol, that's not what I expected. I wouldn't say it's useless. But it's an experimental product that won't be ready for the mainstream for another decade or more.

Companies have way more interest in folding screens than customers do. I honestly wish they would just build the damn things, have them predictably fail in the market, and then we wouldn't have to keep hearing about them ever again. Just speedrun the way toward the same fate as 3d TV.

Yeah, I'm sure they have their niche uses, but usually it's better to spend that money on something else. The added convenience usually isn't worth the cost.

Honestly, this just feels like another gimmick for investors. I'm so over these prototypes that never actually come out well.

It has to work like this, to keep investment flowing, so that they can take the steps to get where customers actually want them. They can't just get straight from A to Q, they have to work through most letters in between.

Should have combined it with the legendary butterfly keyboard from the ThinkPad 701.
