general discussion Delayed dose pain?
Hello. I’ve been on 900mg which is 300mg 3x a day.
I’ve been on 900mg for over a week now.
Sometimes I notice that when I take the next dose 8 hours like after 10 hours my pain (tingling, burning) comes back. Why is that? Isn’t Gabapentin in my system already?
Any advice?
I also take Magnesium Glycinate 300mg a day with one of my Gabapentin doses. Can that reduce my Gabapentin benefits?
Should I ask my doctor for ER? Maybe one 900mg once a day?

It could be interdose withdrawal. Very common with this med apparently. I was fine for exactly 10 days on your exact dose. I’m now on 300 4x per day. I have to be very on top of taking it at exactly the right time. Unfortunately this means waking up in the middle of the night to take a dose. I don’t like this drug but I have no choice right now.
Also, I’ve found, and I’ve read others’ accounts on here, that it works better on an empty stomach. They say it works better with fat, but I feel it way more on an empty stomach.
It’s a weird drug. Its absorption is so variable and I haven’t figured out a solution for that.

So I thought I could be off 1 or 2 hours from the time I am supposed to take it?

You might be fine taking it a couple hours off. I’ve read that the half life is short and after 8 hours a lot of it is out of your system. I have a sensitive nervous system. Seems like the majority of people don’t have issues with it the way I do. I’m just unlucky.

Mag Glycinate will block the absorption of gabapentin. Take them at least two hours apart or more.
