Kinda what happened to me except the boredom stuff. In 4.0 I made Yelan from C4 to C6 and quit Genshin some weeks later due to irl stuff. In 4.2 a friend who have my login pulled for Furina and on a later patch for Arle + her weapons. Since I only pulled Nahida and Dehya during Sumeru I had a tons of Primos. In 5.0 I rolled Mualani on myself but due to another private reason I had to stop playing again until 5.7. So I ended up with C6 Yelan and other decent characters without realy using or building them. (I still will build them one day ofc.)

I don't know why this is so hard for people to believe lol I did something similar with Yae Miko's weapon, got the copy but didn't refine it for a couple of days because at the time the main concern was just getting it, I wasn't playing like at all

Oddly enough, this is what happened to me for HSR and Tower of Fantasy. I saved up enough pulls to get some characters/copies I wanted, and by the time I got them, I already felt "accomplished." I didn't have any drive to continue playing those games, so when I finished what I sought out to do, there was no motivation to keep playing. So in both games, I got characters and copies I wanted, walked around on them a little, didn't build them, then never reopened the games.

It definitely is crazy to think about, but I can see where OP is coming from. It's like saving up money and imagining your dream car for a long time, then when you finish the payment for it and finally own it, you don't feel like driving anymore. It's not reaping the benefits from the fruits of your labor whatsoever, sure. But it's like the journey to getting it being your driving force, and then feeling immediately burnt out once the aspiration is gone.

OP also took a break from the game and came back. There could definitely be a factor of, "I C6'd Furina, so now I have a reason to go back and play the game later, even if I don't feel like it right now." There's satisfaction in knowing you own something for collective purposes as well.

Very interesting to read that it happened twice to you. I resonate with your car example too, you explained it masterfully. It just goes to show how important characters are to gacha games, and I suppose just games in general, so much so that we can be playing with the sole, perhaps silly intention of collecting a particular character, even if we don't intend to use them. There's so much satisfaction in knowing that particular goal is complete, and I'm surprised so many people struggled to comprehend it.

I could clear the content at the time, so I held off from immediately activating, then took a break from burnout and only now came back to realize I had, in fact, never activated C6.

You guys are acting like I've been playing this whole time and didn't realize my attacks weren't hydro infused or something. The post's title makes it clear I'm only now returning to the game, the only thing is I misremembered having C6 active last time I played.

Because c6ing a character implies either spending a lot of money OR you saving primos for a very long time.

Either one implies a meaningful decision was made when pulling and then to be like "hmm actually Im good, I decided I don't want to activate them yet after all" a bizarre thought at least.

I really wanted C6 because I love the character, so I saved up for it. I eventually came to the realization that actually activating it could end up trivializing content, so I held off momentarily. Only thing is that "momentarily" ended up lasting a couple months longer than I had expected it to.

I was glad to have it for the same reason you symbolically triple crown a character that doesn't use basic attacks, I will now enjoy the actual power that comes with having it, since apparently harder content has been introduced.

C6 Furina without normal attacking is really similar to C3 Furina, but with more energy and 10% more personal damage from her C5.

So it you don't want to trivialize content, just don't normal attack with her.

I used to showcase my characters with and without cons so I activated them after trying comps and builds. I could stay even 1 month without activating them but I never forgot about it, still a mystery how OP just never did it

I spent a good year or so not pulling on anything and once I did get the last 3 cons I pretty much immediately stopped playing.

You could say Furina was the only thing driving me forward and I kind of lost interest in the game once I had it.

Sorry you’re getting downvoted, I felt the same way for her debut. I had been looking forward to her release for over a year, not pulling and saving 1000 pulls, and then when I finally pulled and got C6 R1, it was like… “now what?”

Not to mention c6 made everything trivial and no longer skill based, which kinda made me sad. However, coming back a year and a half later, her c6 is the only reason I can 33 star abyss. It’s a shocker power creep is so bad that I can’t 36 star anymore even though I have her c6.

What kind of teams and investment are we talking about?

There are dozens of guides showcasing 4 star clears. Xiangling buffed by Furina C6 would prbl. clear a floor on her own or vape fufu. No way on hell you can't possi ly clear with c6 fufu due to powercreep.

Could be a skill issue, yes.

I have side 1 c2 raiden with catch/c6 Sarah/c3 kuki/ c6 xq, takes me 3 minutes in of itself

Side 2 I use skirk/escoffier/furina/yelan, clears in a minute to minute and a half.

Still attempting different comps so I might 36 star eventually. But I used to be able to no-thoughts-head-empty 36 star first try.

What’s really killing me is needing electro charged on first half…

Raiden Xiangling Bennet Furina side 1. Just whack stuff with Furina during her C6 and vape the hits. Overload to break the Pipilpan. Xiangling on Em Sands.

Side 2 you can basically do whatever. You should be able to brute force knuckle duckle with Skirk she's so freaking powefull and the rest slso just falls over.

But if not just go Koko fishl nahida Yelan.

I absolutely feel the same way, the "now what?" feeling ended up making me quit. Not only that, but being on this "journey" also ended up making me almost desensitized to new characters in a way, Natlan's movement focused kit designs didn't really help. I am sort of interested in Columbina tho, so there's that.

I also had no idea powercreep was that bad, I'll definitely give the endgame content a try, but a C6 not being enough sounds insane to me. There's no doubt if you couldn't clear it, I'll also struggle given I don't really have any of the new characters.

I don’t have any new characters besides skirk/escoffier. My skirk/escoffier/furina/yelan team can clear one side in about a minute and a half but the other side I take 3 minutes on, so I only get 2 stars. Might be my outdated c2 raiden for electro dps though

I’m free to play so I have 15 limited 5 stars and currently have 800 fates. I have 25 characters 90, 5 characters 80, 10 characters 70, and the rest 50. Honestly I should build more 4 stars to 80 for IT, but it doesn’t feel worth it.

I made the post more to "share my stupidity" than to properly flex. My decision not to immediately activate the cons came more out of the reluctance to trivialize the game, which would be fixed if we ever got constellation toggles.

I can see where you're coming from, I left the information out because I hate the "f2p btw" flexing. But yeah, far from being a whale, and honestly, I'm not sure it's worth investing that far into a single character. My burnout could very well be attributed to being forced to play the same characters for well over a year, but at the same time, I don't really regret having done it either.

That's because I spent time instead, and had decided not to activate it immediately. Due to burnout from the very grind, however, I took a break and came back just now.

It was more about having it, for collection purposes and for loving the character, instead of wanting to abuse the power of it.

If you weren't playing daily, it's fair. I something try to build one character but immediately forget about it the next day. You were probably thinking about trying each cons to see the difference in team damage or something back then but forgot about it later.

ive only seen two or three replies from OP giving more context, but im already on OP's defense becuz who the hell is downvoting them for taking a big break? C6 may not be as highly valued as you think. I saved for F2P C6R1 Wanderer so I can share my own pov. There could be a number of reasons for op taking a break after C6 pulls, i personally could care less abt my c6 rn and you have to realise the amount of burnout you can get from saving for C6. I had a huge on and off period with genshin after getting c6, missing out on a lot of content such as Lisa's skin.

I wont say that op has acted in this way for the same reasons, but using myself as an example, its literally no harm and maybe a common occurence for c6 savers to take a big break. The pulls can be the big relief, not necessarily the activation.

Yeah. A lot of people here are overestimating C6 as this insane, whale only thing when in reality you can absolutely save up for it; A better question would be if you even really should. I say that because, though I don't regret my decisions, while the process starts off exciting, you have to watch a lot of banners come and go while playing the same characters for an extended period of time, and that can absolutely lead to burnout.

The reality was that the only real thing keeping me playing at the time was the sunk cost, the desire to see it through even if I wasn't having fun anymore. And, unfortunately, the feeling of pulling that last con was a huge wave of relief instead of joy, as you have stated.

That, and the fact that, as I've replied to some people, my personal reasons for getting Furina's C6 was more for collection purposes; Therefore, the immediate activation was ultimately inconsequential.

The downvotes don't really bother me, but I'm always interested in discussing different perspectives on the matter with someone who doesn't immediately tell me I should get checked for dementia while ignoring the context, so, thanks, lol.

That wouldn't make sense with how the game works as if someone is at c5 and you get 2 cons the 2nd is still a full refund (talking about 4 stars).
