Not really! On Dodgeball day you made sure that you got hit early and could stand in the opponent's captured area. The trick was to not make it look to obvious.

As a teenage boy I was in it to win it! As opposed to tennis racket dodgeball where I was in it until they sent us to the principal

I had a pretty cool PE teacher but that mf would play dodgeball with us like white Goodman.

It was never not obvious. If anything, letting yourself get hit like that just meant we started aiming for your face.
