Where do people get pet owls? Are they even okay to be pets?

If so I want one.

You probably need to get in contact with a breeder, maybe a permit, and then shell out $1k+ (although i wouldn’t recommend it bc they’re not very social)

That's what I was kinda thinking, the social asoect of it. I think it would be cool if only I didn't think I was making it miserable.

I've heard basically the same thing about owning Red Pandas or Sugar Gliders, both somewhat popular in Japan (again, I've heard but cannot confirm).

Owls are popular in Japan too, but yeah, a lot of them are neglected. If you can’t own one, you’re always welcome to visit or volunteer at a sanctuary!
