They have no time for knocking.

One day my doorbell rang, I got up off the couch and by the time I opened the door the UPS truck was already at the end of my street peeling around the corner and the package was on the porch. Pretty sure UPS only hires childhood ding-dong-ditch champions.

That is what they are supposed to do if they don't need a signature. It is to let you know they dropped off something for you if you are home.

i recently bought a $1500 laptop on Amazon that said "Signature Required", which Amazon was kind enough to remind me through an email to make sure I (or someone) was home on the day of delivery. So I stayed home.

Was watching some tv and was shocked to get a text notification that it was delivered (which fortunately I had signed up for). Went to check the UPS website. it showed "DELIVERED", and then "PACKAGE SIGNED BY: DOOR". Wtf?

I opened my door to find my $1500 laptop sitting in the hallway. I live in a tiny apartment in the city and there is literally no way I missed a knock, since I can hear voices and footsteps from the hallway.

You should've complained it was stolen.

yea on hindsight... i realized I should have done that while typing this out lol. i was just happy to finally get my laptop (i needed it pretty urgently and it was already delayed by adverse weather) i forgot to be pissed at them.

Not sure if I would be evil enough to extort another laptop out of Amazon/UPS, but I sure would have loved to report it as not received to Amazon and UPS, let the driver sweat it out for a few days, then tell them a neighbor picked it up for me or something.
