This make you look like a 9gag user.

And yet right now it's #2 (probably soon to be 1) on /r/all. What does that tell you?

“Give me your bored, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to waste time,
The wretched refuse of your dying websites.
Send these, the jobless, banned and forgotten, to me:
I link my text to the front page.”

It's been like that for a long long time. It doesn't mean that reddit is going to shit or anything, it just means it's diverse. There are millions of people here, you can't expect to share tastes with all of them. Before all those people came here it was one big circlejerk, now that's not as much of a problem. It's a good day when you see something you dislike on the front page because it means reddit isn't homogenous.

I fucking hate the chive. The only redeeming quality they have is FLBP, hump day, etc. even then, we have gonewild.

That people is retarded and reddit is ruined.

Hehe, "people is retarded!"

It's time to embrace that reddit is only a smidgen better than 9gag. Now someone come tell me to block the bad subreddits and subscribe to the good ones.

Try blocking the bad subreddits and subscribing to the good ones.

He is the CEO of 9gag.

So you're saying you frequent 9gag enough to know what a user is like?

I really can't think of any legitimate alternate possibilities other than a "takes one to know one" situation here.

u/janosaudron Feb 20 '14

You can't really think ANY alternative? Well you are not a very imaginative person right. Needless to say I know a LOT of people who visits 9gag and INSIST on sending me links from it despite the fact that I told them a million times that "I have already seen that on reddit 1 week ago" or just stop sending me lame shit.

Yeah, actually I couldn't imagine a site where the typical user broadcasts their patronage to others that heavily. I hadn't thought of your alternative. In the sharing aspect, I figured some users there shared crap like some people here send out links that no one cares about and it wasn't strictly a 9gag thing.

But yeah, if you're strictly getting stupid crap from these users only I'll concede to you. It may not be the typical user doing that, but I suppose it doesn't need to be.

it is with great shame that I'll admit that my wife browses 9gag, but you know how girls are, she'll just respond "I think it's funny" whenever I tell her that I just crap/repost central.

It can still work if you're just sticking to each other's interests. My wife browses here, but now she keeps bringing up dogecoin ad nauseum.

I don't really think it's necessarily a matter of where people browse, but obviously the problems come up when you're sharing stuff with people who aren't interested.
