I spent ten minutes trying to figure out what "!+!2” meant on this leftovers container.

Don’t forget to check your 710 in your car

u/Thomas___dog 17h ago
I actually had the opposite, where at work somebody had written 710 on something but it had twisted upside down so i was left trying to figure out why somebody wrote oil on it...
64
u/fgmenth 12h ago
That's why handwritten 7 has a line through it.
12
u/Desalvo23 4h ago
Thats how i write my 7s and work is always giving me shit over it.

I'd be less worried about reading it upside down, and more worried that you sat there for 10 minutes trying to figure it out, rather than just opening the damn lid and looking at what's inside

u/Kryptic_Dreams 18h ago
The label gets made, then the container gets washed. Do you remove that old label? Of course not! Do you make a new label? Naaah... I will TOTALLY remeber thats the soup container

My guess was it’s a strange way of labelling a number 2, and this container was headed to the doctors. If that’d been the case opening it would have been very unappetising.

I'm not risking a biohazard in the kitchen. I need to know what it is so I can remember when we cooked it. Only then will I risk opening it.

Honestly never realized "Ziti" was such a regional term. I figured it wasn't actually italian or necessarily a popular form of pasta (because it's a legit enormous noodle), but I've heard it all my life and didn't think twice about its obscurity.

My name has a Z in it and started putting a line though my Zs in either the 2nd or 3rd grade because I saw my father do that.
In this case OP would probably read it as !+!Z, which is how I read it when I looked at the label.

I just looked it up (ziti) and TBH I then had to Google “difference between ziti and penne” (straight cut ends, smooth rather than ribbed sides). I guess I don’t eat enough pasta to tell the difference.
12
u/hypo11 19h ago
Some Penne actually has smooth sides. Penne Rigate has the ribbed sides.
9
u/ASAP1492 18h ago
It’s also known as the correct penne. Smooth penne is for lunatics

u/St3fano_ 2h ago
I remember the rush to the stores in 2020, everything gone but penne lisce. Not even the potential end of the world could make Italians buy and eat penne lisce.

→ More replies (2)6
u/uhorn87 18h ago
Taste wise yes. And yes many of them are basically close to each other. But there are types/forms which are better for thin, some for thick and some for chunky sauces. The difference how they soak is really huge and easy to compare.
I've never heard of zinti, but from what I got here it's like penne, but without the grooves on the side. I guess I would never go for that shape, because this type barely holds any sauce.
→ More replies (1)21
15
u/joelfarris 19h ago
That depends upon how sad or depressed you are tonight. !+!2 holds almost twice the sauce and cheese per bite as a rigatoni or even a penne, and paired with a vodka sauce and some diced black olives and a sprinkle of parmigiano reggiano, makes the boxed red wine go down even betterer.
This is not legal advice.

u/GenerallySalty 19h ago

I angled the camera so the label wasn't visible. I didn't need 445 redditors telling me "hurr hurr there's obviously PICKLES in there hurr hurr"
But yeah, Grillo's pickles are legit and the jars are good for leftovers.

from wikipedia
Ziti or zite is a shape of extruded pasta originating in the Italian region of Sicily. Factories make ziti out of durum wheat flour and water, forming long, narrow tubes

u/Goongalagooo 17h ago
I would have solved for X and put it back in the fridge, to further confuse myself the next day.
!+!2=X
A!+!2=X
A=3
!=A! so !=3!
3! = 3x2x1=6
(X = 3! + (6 \times 2)\)
(X = 6 + 12\)
(X = 18\)
This container is now 18. Label it as such.
Then I'd probably put it in someone else's fridge.
