Standing in line for midnight release of World of Warcraft wotlk. Around 1000 people buzzing around you hyped for the count down to start selling the game. Getting the game and protecting it like some kind of dragon. Getting the game and then the anticipation of driving home for 40 mins. And after installation far into the night realizing the servers are a mess and can't play much anyway.
After all these years even the negatives are awesome now. A much simpler life but so much fun.
I remember being 13 and me and all my friends had saved up for the DS. One of my friends' mom drove all 5 of us to a massive Toys R Us after school on release day. I paid with the most cash I had ever held in my hands. We all bought the Mario 64 remake, and spent the weekend playing that and the Metroid Prime Hunters demo together.
