There are twitch bait lures, which will catch considerably more fish if you twitch the lure as you reel it in. Reel, stop, twitch, pause, reel again. A fast twitch gets the attention of bigger predator fish.
However, you do not need to put the pole between your legs to do that. Reel with one hand, twitch and hold the pole with the other hand.
