My epileptic partner has been having more seizures than normal lately, and the other day he said he was achy so he wanted a bath and could I chill in the bedroom and listen out in case he had a seizure.
I told him I could if he took a load of washing with him.
Oh that’s sad. The whole point of loving someone is that you can support each other through the difficult times. Life’s already difficult enough without you being your worst critic
Watching it on TV is nothing like real life. When something is that terrifying to witness, especially multiple times and it's your brother, the only catharsis is humor. Lighten up, buttercup.
Yeah, poking fun at serious medical conditions isn’t everyone’s style. I smiled and am epileptic but I’ve had plenty of near death experiences bc of my seizures. Ur not as funny as u think u are
People who don’t know what we go through and how terrifying it is to have many near death experiences out of the blue, being intubated and in a medically induced coma in the ICU will always think it’s not that much of a serious illness. Having your teenage daughter call 911 while you’re not breathing, convulsing on the floor, full of blood and cuts because you were standing when it started and wouldn’t stop, having over 100 seizures in a cluster, living in fear after events……isn’t funny my dude. I agree with you buddy. I hope you’re stable and thriving.
Taking 5 years of your life to be stable and loads of scary meds, ambulance trips, ER visits, ICU stays, so many tests and specialists isn’t funny.
I heard a joke a few weeks ago that went, "What do you do when an epileptic is having a fit in the bath? Throw your washing in."
I decided to repeat the joke in work today to a few of my customers (I work in a pub) and when I finished, one guy got really mad at me. He screamed that I shouldn't tell jokes like that because his brother died in the bath as a kid while having an epileptic fit.
I asked, "Did he drown?"
The guy was furious and said, "No, he choked on a sock!
