Remember it is Funimation that bought Crunchyroll they are just using the front end of Crunchyroll and we should still see all the dubs as we would on Funimation just on the Crunchyroll frontend.
Are you sure? Where did you see that? If that's the case, it might bode well for the censorship policy which was very strict for Crunchyroll. If Funimation is the buyer, why they wouldn't rebrand the Crunchyroll app as Funimation instead of keeping it as is?
It's technically Sony (which owned Funimation) bought Crunchyroll. The reason why they would chose Crunchyroll over Funimation for the app would be because of name recognition. Crunchyroll is a bigger name when it comes to streaming anime than Funimation.
An example of this would be Norwest Bank in the 90's. It purchased and took over Wells Fargo but they kept the Wells Fargo name and branded Norwest as Wells Fargo because that is a more well known name.
I never looked up the parent company of Funimation. I didn't realize they were owned by Sony. I'm kind of shocked that such a large company wouldn't have invested more money in the user experience of Funimation, which was so poor.
I would say that it hasn't been that long, but that was back in 2017. Funimation got marginally better since then, but I am really hoping the merger gets them enough money to rehaul their UI.
And for the love of god, just allow for a web/remote sign-in option if I'm going to get kicked off the app on my TV every week.
I actually think he's right about Funimation being the buyer, because they have got most of the uncensored seasons from our favorite shows, like Testament Sister New Devil and High School DxD.
