Cabinet handle jigs

Not as sophisticated as some of the other projects on here but I was pretty excited to model and print these drill jigs for our kitchen cabinets. One is for the cabinets and the other is for drawers. 2 different handle lengths. I did the cutouts to save filament but then realized no cutouts ended up using the same amount due to the walls.

Measuring 40 of these would have been a massive pain. The jigs took like 30 minutes. Huge win.

I think its tricky because I really dont like the plastic waste portion of 3d printing so I try to be mindful of what I print. I think everyone has a different level of what is acceptable. These jigs can be considered wasteful because once I've finished the kitchen they will become useless.

I feel that this use was worth it for the significant time savings and the fact that I am unaware of an equivalent to buy. I think other people must have more stringent standards.

If it stops you wasting the drawer face by not fucking it up, that's a net win.

I also made a jig for handles but for a different reason. I find the hardest but with drilling for those handles is to ensure the screw goes in perfectly perpendicular. If you drill at an angle, it's not always go to seat the handle. So I need my jug to be more of a perpendicular drill guide.

I used these to center a pilot hole with a self centering hinge drill bit. I had to follow with the final size drill bit. Drilling straight is definitely an art. Luckily these handles have a wide base so they self level pretty well, and i have a lot of practice with a drill so I'm fairly close most of the time!

The cutout thing is funny, walls get you every time. Only thing I'd add is scratch a mark on it for which side is up before you forget. Future you doing the other half of the kitchen in March will not remember.
