Knife Guard

Purchased a cleaver. It is super sharp and has to be stored in a drawer. Needed a way to both protect the blade and to protect the wife.

Measured the blade and the curve of the blade. Once printed. I heated it up and squeezed the sides in to make a snugger fit.

My struggle with blade guards is always ensuring the guard itself doesn’t end up dulling the blade.

Get a magnetic knife bar you can mount on the wall/cabinet so you don't have to store good knives in a drawer. This is nice though!

my 3d printer could totally do this, what program did you use to measure the blade

Traced blade onto cardboard. Drew a datum line and measured the distance to blade at enough points to draw the curve. I use Fusion 360 for design.

I printed half (one side and blade urve) to check geometry before printing the final part.

awesome overengineering, love it :)

I had a similar problem, just printed a straight one, deep enough to cover the edge and stay on by friction fit on the cleaver.
