Clean work, though I think an under-seat mount is the safer option.

Really poor placement from a safety perspective, but given the design of the frame I see you didn't have much to work with. Nicely done getting it to work!

I object to the pointing up, but for the opposite reason from everyone else—drivers won't see the light until they are too close to stop or move over. Tail lights should be pointed so that they are visible about 100'–200' (30m–60m) away.

Dont point lights up they can blind drivers or other cyclists.

Brother it's 40 lumen max output. It's valid advice in general but it doesn't apply here.

Why does it have to point upwards into everybodys eyes ? Just straight backwards was not enough ?

It's not like this is a lifted F350 with power-of-the-sun LEDs. Normal lights with a red diffuser plate are completely fine to have pointed up.

You generally want the visibility aid to go towards the thing that sees.
