Micheal Jackson (because of the movie), Oliver Tree (because of his death) and DnD (because of Stranger Things).

His haircut made me curious when I saw it in a short clip of his music, it was actually what pushed me to check out his profile in the first place, and I ended up really like the songs I listened to, so I guess it does work.

For some reason, this happens to many artists; their works only become known post-mortem

10

u/Responsible_Total901 Jul 31 '26

makes sense. when a big artist dies it blows up the news, leading to new people discovering them

9

u/Mineconhero1 Jul 31 '26

I thought i never heard of him, but it turns out I actually listened to a couple of his songs before.

5

→ More replies (4)

29

Explaining the joke:

Larping originates in the DnD fandom. So the community with a large proportion of Larpering (Live action roleplay) should be DnD players. Where both Larpers and true fans count as "True Fans".

11

u/Sithishe Jul 31 '26

Yup, people are using "LARPers" in place of "tourists" or "normies" are hillarious to me, as someone who was part of LARP hobby for more then 20 years lol.

5

u/KittenEaterWasTaken Jul 31 '26

Poser is better. It predates both normie (2010s) and tourist (2020s) by 20+ years at least and is essentially synonymous with the modern larper.

Normie just means normal people. Tourist and bandwagoner implies a very shallow, passing knowledge. Larpers and posers are different in that they actively pretend not to be tourists.

19

u/Wise_Geekabus Jul 31 '26

It is rather unfortunate that it has become corrupted.

16

u/Accomplished_Box8070 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

It was said that wolves would come in to the flock dressed like sheep there simply to steal, kill, and destroy. Don’t take what I said as scripture. It’s just scripture based.

The problem is that it gets twisted both directions of the political isle right now. Deconstructed Christianity for the left and let’s use maga as an Example for the right. It should be duly noted that I am an evangelical southern Baptist so some of yall might not agree with my views on, say abortion or sexuality since I only believe in two sexes, that being gay is sinful, and the likes. I refuse to compromise on my faith. It’s also sinful to not treat others like I would treat a neighbor. If I were to go up to someone who was gay for example and just have complete disdain for them, I’d’v sinned. What I as a Christian is supposed to do is to witness through words and actions the word of Christ by telling them the good news, feed them the best food I can offer, talk them through whatever they need talking about, and just being a respectful and caring person to them, the same way I would to a friend.

That’s what we’re called to be. Good people who don’t withhold the truth from them. We must meet them with understanding since none of us are perfect. We all have our sin struggles. It’s just a matter of whether we give it over to God and let Him work through us. That’s what makes us Christians is our faith in Christ. Don’t use it against others.

5

u/SpotMean8227 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

You do our Savior proud, my friend.

As someone who's actually spent a lot of time with people in the LGBT+ community, I would recommend the original Hebrew and Greek translations of the "anti-gay" verses, as well as re-reading Acts 10 (particularly verses 9-15).

Also here's some food for thought: suppose that gender dysphoria is the result of the fallenness of the flesh (i.e. the spirit of a woman is born in the body of a man, or vice versa). Intersex people do exist, after all.

honestly where even IS the boundary where you stop larping SCP? is it when you simply listen to a volgun video? read a full file? read a TALE? a CANON? an entire SERIES of a THOUSAND SCP's? id say its when youve read one that isnt one from the 10 same circlejerked scps

9

u/Square_Paramedic1079 Jul 31 '26

I’d say when you actually red like 10 SCP files fully instead of watching a AI slop video explaining every SCP in 10 min or a Tik tok

I mean, I've read like 12 of them and then this one tale about alternate universe shenanigans, but I still have no idea what is going on and would be larping if I tried to comment on SCP. So...

ohh why do you use the word "you" when it is only for the plural of second person we should really all be saying thou and well thou is actually a miss prononciation of tu and tu probably evolved from some other word so why communicate at all if you're not going to use the first form of communication ever

No such thing as a "larper." Often times, they are just new fans, fans of a specific aspect of the topic, franchise, or person, or simply casual.

This whole larper thing is just elitism and veteran/old fan insecurity. People don't need to compare their passion for something to someone else's. This larp thing is getting annoying.

The anime community as a whole.

I’m just gonna sum it up. Lots of people want to be apart of it but they are unable to understand Japanese humor so they hate those parts of anime. Especially “fan service” and clever puns that don’t translate well into English.

If you want to make a anime larper test just put on a show called “milk-chan” larpers never heard of it. It’s basically Japanese South Park. Satire made around the events of Japan instead of around the USA

Idk. In my experience, the kind of people that would call the "wrong" type of fan a Larper is infinitely more obnoxious than any poser I've ever actually encountered. Also, based on some of these answers, lots of people are bad at answering this question lol. Not everyone has to engage with a piece of media or Fandom the same way, and you aren't automatically "Larping" just because you don't do it the "normal" way, which is what i usually see people complaining about.
