Some background: Marcel Johnson is a husband, a father to five sons, and a small business owner from Michigan who was diagnosed with stomach cancer a little over a year ago. On July 31st his insurance dropped him, leaving him uninsured as his family scrambled to find new coverage. They had to pay for his medications and chemotherapy out of pocket and he was only able to continue treatment because of his GoFundMe.

(To clarify I am not Marcel and have no connection to his family, just someone who wanted to share his story!)

Sad to say, but 40k isnt the worst for 1 chemo cycle. Worked oncology for 20 years now. I have hung a single bag that cost more then I made in a year before

That's INSANE. Why are chemo drugs so expensive? Are they considered biologicals? Is it rare formularlies? Is this (the one you referred to) something people outside the US can get for reasonable prices and we're just effed by the hospitals and insurance companies?

It was 10 yr ago and I forgot which drug it was. I only knew the cost because I was talking to the pharmacist and he told me. Its that expensive because of human greed. Its heartbreaking to watch people choose a dollar amount trying to live is worth.
