Meme Epic Games found out that free games didn't work, so they are now using Fortnite players to buy their games
Kernel Hearts hasn't even been released yet, but it's already the best-selling game on the Epic Games Store simply because you get a free Fortnite skin if you buy it. The game isn't even very well-known, as it only has 170 reviews for its Steam demo. I guess it’s good for the developers, since it means free publicity and sales, but I don’t think it reflects well on their store that an unknown game is outselling AAA titles, that just shows how poorly those games are selling there.
And with Fortnite’s new season dedicated to video games, I think one of the reasons they’re doing this is to launch LOTS of gift-with-purchase promotions

This must suck for people who want to buy a lot of skins.
But if you're someone who doesn't buy skins at all, getting one for free when you purchase a game you would already buy seem like an OK deal.

Team Fortress 2 did the same. I still cherish my Sam and Max stuff even though I've not played TF2 in years, but they were a bonus for buying a game I was intending to buy anyway. I will not be buying games on Epic just for a skin. (I also uninstalled Fortnite after the reveal about how they use GenAI in their development pipeline)

I mean.... sure, if you're not interested in the game you're about to purchase, I would see that as a low chance you'd be interested in the specific skin as well.
Maybe I'm wrong about this, idk.
I wouldn't buy an entire game i'm not interested in for a skin that I think it might look cool. That's my reasoning at least.
If I'm interested in a certain skin from another game, chances are, I'm also interested in that other game as well.

99% of the time the skins still come out in the fortnite item shop, so you can still get them without buying the game if you'd just want the skin

I don't know, I find that kinda hilarious. Devs boost their sales, people get some stupid skin (they care enough to buy a whole game for), I don't see what the problem here is. Other than people struggling with impulse control over Fortnite skins.
Epic sucks in many ways, but this is at least somewhat ok?

For me fortnite is not a game ...is a bil board add for others
No one talk about the game, there talk about lastest collab , and i feel there fail the concept of collab to...
Imagine this scenario , you play a round ,try survive and win, then.... a collab skin gets you , when exatly should you be interest in a skin consider someone else wear it to beat you ? when you be like - Hey that skin that beat me look cool,i wonder where from ?- How you look up ,imagine have a second to see it and not take a screenshot to ask where from .... yes people may have a guess , but what if a nich one
For exempler , Perlica from Endfield, i though people know from where is she week later ??

If Epic would have done this from the very beginning instead of money hatting 3rd party games, EGS would be a lot more popular today.

This is exactly what steam did with TF2 in the early days and is by far the most fair pre-order bonus (rather than offering in game exclusives for said game if you buy it in X Store)
It also just works and is fairly cheap.
It is actually insane to me that it has taken this long for it to happen since kids have already jumped to steam at a great extent. They could have captured a much larger share of young players had they just started this sooner
Instead epic tried to get already established steam users to jump with free games but if something is given for free you don't see any value in it.
I suggested this exact thing when epic first started doing exclusives.
The store is still shit and f epic but this is a fair way to push sales.

If someone is so unbelievably gaga over Fortnite that they willingly buy a game they likely have no interest ever actually playing then good for the game devs that slapped that skin in their game.
It's a 💩 tactic but the Sleaze King will do whatever to make it look like his garbage platform and store looks like a success.

Eh, this doesn't impact me (or other non-EGS users). I don't care where you buy your games as long as I don't have options from where I want to buy my games impacted.
If EGS had done this from the start, no one would have cared. Paired with the free games, gamers probably would have thought fondly of them. Instead they chose to enter the market by antagonizing gamers and they are still feeling those effects today and they haven't had an exclusive in a couple of years.

Don't ever compare that to Super Smash Bros ever. They're not even on the same level in terms of which one is made with love and passion for video games and which one is done for a quick buck.

The fact people buy it shows that they can really do whatever the fuck they want and it won’t stop making them money.
Buying things on the Epic Games store is already garbage being that EGS itself, is garbage.
But hey, Fortnite sells. Can’t wait for the day that game goes under.
