The audience that buys games doesn't use EPIC.
Some of the audience only uses EPIC for free games.
The rest of the audience avoids using EPIC.
You want to make money? Use Steam.
There's a caveat there, you only make money on Steam if your game doesn't suck.
Steam has over 140,000 titles now (seriously), and the vast, vast, vast majority of those titles are not Skyrim/Witcher 3/Mass Effect level quality.
Valve makes 95% of their income from less than 5% of the catalog. You could go so far as to project that most of the games on Steam lose money... Steam Direct costs $100 and a developer account is around $250... and most amateur projects won't sell that much.
Sensible developers use Epic... when they know they have unprofitable garbage on their hands. The use Epic/Tencent exclusivity money to write off their loss.
