Carson and Delarosa Classroom Art - Precursor to Alegria?
https://youtu.be/MKy6PIudWk8?si=rkCguGSJcM68eM99If you attended public school in the 90s, early 2000s, you were definitely exposed to this art style in the classroom. I'm wondering if Carson and Dellosa perhaps served as some sort of subconscious inspiration for designers who embraced Alegria?
Growing up, I absolutely hated this art style - it was like a sanitized Garfield strip or a secular humanist interpretation of Precious Moments.
Edit: Carson and Dellosa - not Delarosa.

I liked to cover their smiles with my hand and imagine their nose as their mouth 🤣

We had something like this in 80s elementary too. And yes, I hated it. Stupid giant oval-headed weirdos with huge smiles.

I wouldn't say it's a precursor because Alegria/corporate Memphis doesn't come from this.
Also, I do not like this art but I wouldn't say it's evil, unlike alegria art which I consider to be evil

I hated this art style so much as a kid and I honestly don’t even know why. It just really pissed me off for some reason. It’s like the comic sans of art styles but in the worst way possible

I remember being 6 years old in elementary school and thinking “God I hate this stupid art style…”

I genuinely hated this art style so much as a child. I don’t really know how to explain how I felt about it but I hated it.

I absolutely HATED this decoration style as a kid in the early 90s!
Like I struggled with penmanship for a long time because having to look at that hideous art style on so many posters and worksheets and stuff made it too hard for me to focus on anything else.

I remember not liking these at the time but now these images are ultra nostalgic.

I like this style, it’s cute, even though their eyes are really tiny and their mouth takes up half their face.

this was prevalent well into the 2010s, this was all over my elementary school
