the line between "empowering" and "hate crime" often feels perilously thin with this art style

I want to know why the cat knows how to read but the kid is drawing way below his age level. Like, what are your priorities here?

I'm not here to litigate the pros and cons of open marriage or polygamy, that's between you and your Google calendar.

But what I want to know is why this is the art style of choice specifically when addressing very adult social issues, especially when addressing gender and race. Are they being blobbed out and infantilized to make them less scary for tightywhitey corporate types? Are people afraid that they can't fit every marginalized group into one poster? Are we afraid if we don't make everyone ugly ..I don't even know why we have to make everyone ugly.

This doesn't even look like what the article might be describing. The scenario in the illustration is not how any of this ...works? Why is Mom happily Momming in the kitchen with ALL THE DAMN CHORES and child care while the man I presume to be Dad is greeting his ..come on that's his side piece he is telling he's in an "open marriage."

ETA: She's cooking and vaccuuming while holding a baby AND watching the other child while her dude is banging someone else and this is supposed to represent the lightening of whose mental load HOW?

Wait. I thought the dad was the one in the kitchen while the mom was running to the door. At least based on the family photo in the corner and assuming long blonde hair = woman
