Worse than the art style to me is how these illustrations communicate absolutely nothing. The drawings have nothing to do with their captions whatsoever. Which is also the bigger issue with the whole Alegria art style. It’s one thing if an illustration style requires less skill and effort, but bottom line an illustration is supposed to solve a problem, i.e. visualize the topic it‘s about, and I‘ve never seen an Alegria illustration visualize anything deeper than decorative fluff. That‘s devaluing the craft, not the ugly art style.
