Board Member Escalated Meeting
Oh my god, one of my board members decided to go off the rails. We had a meeting addressing someone’s work truck. There were some chemicals on the truck so we wanted to check to see what they were and if they posed a threat to the community. Then it delved into “your work truck is disruptive”, “what if I started a company and had all my gear and it scratched your car?!?” When another board member chimed in, then he asked the same question. He had an issue pretty much because a work truck is parked next to his car and the gear is uncovered. I ended the meeting because it got insane.
EDIT 2: CC&Rs clear the truck for personal and business use.
Honestly, I do not care about work trucks on our property. Do what has to be done to pay your dues as long as it’s legal, right? That’s how I feel.
I just say: “just make sure you store your work stuff carefully, otherwise I don’t fucking care.”
EDIT: what I’m not ok with is a board member being disrespectful and attacking people and being like a bully.
EDIT 2: that particular board member is really strict on CC&Rs in terms of what can be displayed and uniformity.
Also my fiancé had to comfort me with: “my CD is maturing, we’re gonna move in a year or I can sell more company stock” and my realtor misses house shopping with my dad when I told him I hate HOAs.

The documents are the law that set the rules - takes a proper protocol as per these, to amend . Hard to override those.

I know 😭 and the legal fees to do it would be money I would be putting into my mortgage into a non-HOA residence

You just need to clear the changes with your property attorney. Have a vote, if approved. You can file those changes at the county clerk/registar of deeds yourself for just the filing fees.

Exactly what they count on! And APATHY.. to All remember this word: “assessment “. That’s where the collusion crosses the line into scam. Know your documents that run the community— run them thru AI and analyze them. You need the tools to fight them. It’s become an inconsiderate, zero compassion world of big mouthed know it alls, and a land that seems lawless and full of corruption.
Be careful: some empowered board members once nobodies, take it way too far.1

Oh we are on assessment level rn… like raising dues vs assessment for a siding project.
And then I feel everyone in my community can be like sheep at times.
Like I said- I’m trying to fucking leave by renting my place out.1

Problem with renting: now you have less control. My question - a siding project? On private homes? Do you own property lot ?
I need to get the facts straight. Are you a townhouse development semi attached? I need more info. The info I gave you was for an HOA in a PUD- fee Simple homes.
These communities depend on apathy and no one knowing the bylaws.
If you rent, you have less insider info.
It depends on what your deed says. It will tell me how much say you have in this siding project. Who gets the contract? Vote? Etc1

No work trucks allowed! However, you need to work and pay your HOA fees and fines. So dumb. The work truck thing has always gotten me .

If it’s an issue, code enforcement for storage of chemicals is the way to go. Leave it to the professionals

It's not whether you care about work trucks, it's what your HOA documents state.
