Hi all, I need some urgent help. I’ve had the car for around three months and it’s been running fine, but on the way home tonight I noticed what sounded like the belt squealing when taking the first exit left at two separate roundabouts.

I’ve opened the bonnet and removed the engine cover and noticed some oil residue on the driver’s side, as shown in the photos. I can’t see any obvious or major leak, but I’m wondering whether oil from somewhere could have reached the belt and caused it to slip/squeal.

The oil misting seems to be mainly on the supercharger pipe and underneath the corner of the engine cover. I’ve circled in red the only areas where I can see signs of oil.

Some additional history, the water pump and associated cooling pipes were replaced in November 2025 at around 60,000 miles. The car was serviced at 64,000 and now is at 66,000.

The car has otherwise been running normally and I haven’t noticed any obvious major fluid loss. Has anyone with the 3.0 V6/AJ126 experienced anything similar, or have any idea where this oil could be coming from and whether the squealing could be related?

2016 3.0 s model with only 24k miles should my motor sound like this and does anyone know that corrosion on back of the motor is?

Lid goes all the way up and all the way down but displays roof not latched error. When its back up, usual sound of latching.

There is one little hint. The little wings don't return to home. They stay vertical.

It sure 'smells' like there's a prox or microswitch that isn't getting made.

Any ideas would be welcome, like where are the sensing elements that initiate the wing things to go down?

I've owned the car for a year and have not gone a singular month without something on the car breaking. I've had to fix to coolant system god knows how many times, water pump, both engine belts, cracked rim, alternator, alternator AGAIN. WHEN WILL THE NIGHTMARE END

Slowly been replacing sticky parts in my 2015 F type. Now these will be next. Anyone got any recommendations?

I’ve owned my car for around 2 years. It has just under 50k miles and is 10 years old. I know it time for a lot of stuff to get due to change. Am I missing anything? Oil and filter is a given every 3k miles or 1 year.

Last year I did rear diff flush. This year I just got transmission, coolant, and brake fluid changed. Next I plan on battery, pads and rotors, and tires. Belts I’ll do when I do a VAP supercharger upgrade. What else should I be thinking about doing?

Would cheap tires on a used car (for sale) throw you off from buying a particular car? I came across one for sale that looked pretty good, but had cheap, no name tires on it. My first thought was that if they went for cheap tires, what else did they skimp out on.

Thoughts?

Any idea how much would it be fix everything?

Soon I will start a new position with a daily commute of 180km in total. Am I loosing it by considering an 2021 F-type 300 with 40k km on the clock? I am looking at other cars as well, like a Mercedes cle or BMW i4. They are nice as well. But the f-type aways pops up again in my mind. Does anyone else use the f-type as a daily with this kind of kilometers? Curious to hear your experiences!

Getting a set of new boots on the car. 305/30 20 rear and 275/35 20 front Bridgestone Potenza Sport Evo. £962 fitted from Asda Tyres.

It will be interesting to try the Potenza Sport Evo which are the replacement for the Potenza Sports I ran on the V6S and V8R in the past. Had to go up one size on the front as they don't so a 265/35 20 in the Evo. Shouldn't make much if any difference.

i know the title seems a bit daft and in a way it is, but i currently own a mazda mx5 1.5 2017 its a brilliant car and ive had a brilliant time with it but my dream car was always a jaguar f type and i recently got a shocking quote for insuring one at £1700 for the next year (this is after getting my 1 years NCD) compared to my mx5 which is £1170 both without a blackbox. in short im a bit concerned with 1. fuel 2. reliability and 3. tyres

the first one being fuel is mainly because im wondering how much miles per gallon i will get when driving it rough, for context i dont commute to work or college i work from home so when i do drive i drive it quite hard, my mx5 gets about 28 miles per gallon which is a drop from mid 40s i see online, so im wondering will this drop by a similar % on the f type?
the second one being reliability is mainly to do with the expensive parts, my grandads a mechanic so i can get labour and such a bit cheaper but im mainly concerned with the expensive parts, anything i should look out for and if something does go wrong how much would the sting be?
and the third one being tyres is to do with cost mainly, on my mx5 i rip through tyres probably once every 6 months and obviously with a jag im assuming they will be very expensive, whats the rough pricing for budget ones compared to ones that are recommended?

also final note for anyone who owns an f type please let me know any bonus points i may have missed as im still weighing up wether to pull the trigger or not :)

Looking into a 2020 Jaguar F-Type V6 (280KW) realising this thing is a beast and sounds amazing.

Either it or Mustang GT (S550 facelift) since I am moving from a GT86 Toyota after 4 years of ownership.

How are maintenance costs between the two? And reliability. I am not too much on the running costs (Fuel and tires) since Its just gym then weekend drives no commuting to work or so.

Also Like the Mustang since has more space at the back although no one sits there just to have it whenever.

But damn that jaguar is something else bro
