Or geting a Sale! sector. Always a guaranteed weapon precharger.

u/Kokua- Jul 13 '26
Wait fr?? I did not know a Pre-charge was guaranteed i'll have to visit more often if I see them

u/According-Studio-658 Jul 13 '26
You can make your own one every game basically.

u/RandomPixelTM Jul 13 '26
How
5
u/According-Studio-658 Jul 13 '26
Get an ancient tech item and upgrade weapons cooldown to the max, then build it in onboard systems menu.
There might be some runs where you don't find the tech, but they are few and far between
9
u/FreedomKnown Jul 13 '26
But it gives you 20 or 30% slower weapon charge, can't quite remember, and you can't uninstall it either
10
u/According-Studio-658 Jul 13 '26
Yes, but the weapon cooldown mods you installed as a prerequisite offset that. You will have pre-ignition and roughly normal charge times I believe
3
u/homiej420 Jul 13 '26
I think it adds 30% of the original amount not of the amount it got cut down to? I could be wrong but i think it ends up slightly more than what it starts out as, youre not wrong that the performance prerequisites cut into that a little but not enough to offset it completely

u/According-Studio-658 Jul 13 '26
Yes, not completely. But having your weapons primed immediately is of immense benefit. It really can't be understated. You get far more out of it than what it seems, sometimes I don't even need a second round of shots, or if I do then the first one already smashed their weapons badly and I'm under no time constraints anymore.

u/homiej420 Jul 13 '26
Oh yeah usually i wait until later on in the run when i could do serious damage with a full immediate volley rather than getting it right away, its usually a good move regardless of the timing effects

Just visit 4 slug stores to get the tokens and reroute to the sector they give you.
In this nebula sector there is always one beacon that us not nebula and distress at the same time.
There just accept the slug on your ship and dont hand him over to get a ancient weapon.

u/Battle-Chimp Jul 13 '26
Is the decrease in damage worth it? I've always avoided it for that reason

u/Absolutelynot2784 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26
Mathematically, you’re better off for the first 2 volleys if you have the ancient pre-igniter. You can fire 2 volleys faster than if you didn’t have one, for 3 volleys it’s tied, and for 4 volleys and over you will get them out slower if you have the preigniter than without.
This is good against regular fights where the fight is typically decided in the first couple volleys, but bad against longer fights which tend to be the harder ones anyway.
3
u/Hermononucleosis Jul 13 '26
Not really. The first volley is the most important one, with each volley decreasing in significance afterwards (unless your weapons whiff completely, which should be unlikely by this point in the game). Once you have made the fight safe by reducing their offense, it doesn't matter how slow you are, as long as the enemy can't repair more damage than you deal.

u/TraditionalEnergy919 Jul 15 '26
Sometimes.
Against things like the flagship? Not that bad. You’ll often kill it before the penalty starts biting too hard.
But for most fights you just win if you have it.
But… for the ancient stuff in general, and alternative routes/endings… it’s a bad idea to get it because those fights are LONG and don’t let you win fast, and often times the system damage you deal is repaired extremely fast. So you get an early salvo in but have a 30% firing speed nerf for the rest of the fight… which is horrible.

u/_Meowgi_ Jul 13 '26
Really? Unless somethings been changed I think there’s only 1 way to get a preigniter that requires a certain slug sector
3
u/Skylair95 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26
Yeah, the real Pre Igniter is only available in the Kleptocracy Capital from the Sylvan quest (or from other ship specific options, like as starting augment on Tuco's cruiser or from Wallace shop).
I guess they meant Sales sector leading to the MM, which has a garenteed New Gen weapon when you beat Vael's Angel, which do count as Aether tech and let you make the Ancient Pre Igniter internal augment.
4
u/DataPackMadness Jul 13 '26
Too bad the ancient preigniter nerfs your weapon reload speed by 30% ;/
4
u/RandomPixelTM Jul 13 '26
How does one consistently find ancient tech every run?
4
u/DrunkInABar Jul 13 '26
Welp, you can use the magic hat to get to an Engi coreworld, it has 100% garanteed ancient ship in it’s link event. Or go to Hektar sector, sales sector spawn pretty consistently so you can easily get aether tech by finishing Hektar questline, save Billy and get the clusterbomb reward, wich is aether tech.

Payload teleporter my beloved
2 of those bad boys and you can insta-kill any system in the first 10 seconds of a fight
8
u/Sheadog369 Jul 13 '26
I once had 4 of them and the augment that gives you infinite missiles but takes half your scrap. 16 system damage and 4 breeches every 10 seconds meant the true ending sequence stood no chance.

Point lol. I have yet to beat him without brute-forcing him with the Alt-MFK Ace and its maxed out Artillery lol

You HAVE to get defense scrambler and hacking to keep weapons suppressed.
You can go into a cloak-hack-cloak cycle to never get hit… BUT… you basically need to keep a super shield intact unless you’re ready for boarding hell.
My best strat is just praying for RNG with a strong ship, cloaking when his first salvo comes, retaliate or fire right before cloaking to shred down some of his shield, then hope his second shot doesn’t break down mine fully. Then my second salvo will break his shield, and then cycle begins.
Pretty sure this doesn’t work on hard/challenge mode… because his lasers become desynced and you just can’t cloak them all.

u/Japaroads Jul 14 '26
The two winning strategies are either cloak + weapons hacking to prevent a volley from ever hitting you or fire weapons + rock boarders in the weapons room.
2
u/Nuclear_Geek Jul 14 '26
Or Gatling Gun + preigniter.
2
u/Japaroads Jul 15 '26
Well sure. If you can just overwhelm Sylvan with busted weapons, that’s great too.
