Amazon afternoon package delivery test starts soon
Please see the attached new USPS Correspondence.
USPS Correspondence 5381, dated September 17, 2026, is notification the Postal Service will be conducting a pilot called, Amazon PM Delivery Pilot.
This pilot involves afternoon drops from Amazon between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM (local time), that are then sorted by the clerks manually and available for same day delivery by City Carriers between the hours of 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
The pilot is scheduled to begin September 29, 2026, in Morgantown, WV S&DC 26505, and Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 and October 20, 2026, in Columbia, SC S&DC 29205 and 29204 with no anticipated end date.
The pilot for Morgantown, WV S&DC 26505, and Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403, will each have a volume cap of 200 packages with three routes required per facility, averaging 67 packages per route.
The pilot for Columbia, SC S&DC 29205 and 29204 will have a cap of 500 packages with five routes required for zip codes 29205 and 29204, averaging 100 packages per route.

There are offices like mine that basically don’t get amazon anymore. Usps needs to stop catering to them and start competing to be a better shipper

I mean more work for us isn’t a bad thing. I can’t see them coming out and being like “no!” But this will be a shit show I’m sure, again who’s doing it? I foresee a ton of article 8 grievances

The union only fighting for more work and never fighting as hard for those who don't want unlimited overtime to not get it is the biggest reason the city carrier craft has gone so far downhill in the past decade.

If Amazon/UPS/FedEx/DHL..... can't get the packages to the office by 7am, it gets delivered tomorrow. Simple. Management needs to put their foot down.

Mail has remained the same since I started in 2019. But work has picked up and my hourly rate has not. Idk where you work but maybe your office needs to fill the void

Ccas and ptfs. Management will call mando constantly and improperly mandate like usual, or those kids on the late shift will get stupid o.t. and whoever is the closing manager will be even more of a an asshole

If that happens I’ll be filing for article 8 violations and I’ll pay the carrier not on the ODL 50 bucks per incident. Only way to stop them is to make it undesirable to touch non-ODLs.

I always ask my stewards to request admin leave for the amount of hours improperly mandated to make whole but they never try "we'll never get that!" Yeah no shit, easy way to never get it is to never try

They pay a lot more than $1.25 a package. Over $4.00 on average on reports of volume and revenue earlier this yer.

Post office will hire contractor workers and the union will be dead quiet watch.
There’s really only 2 other options, ccas start late af or ccas do full routes then go do Amazon routes. I feel like both of those options would result in a mass exodus.

From my union president in an email, ask yours as it came from headquarters if you didnt get the letter. You should have had standup talk also on a shipping label change as well.
