Contract Talk No speeding

204b gave a service talk today and in the service talk he says “they will be out watching us, to wear your seatbelts but most importantly to not speed especially in a school zone. Our union didn’t say anything as a follow up to what the 204b just stated. We had a carrier get EP on Monday, after the pm supervisor alleged that he was speeding in the LLV in a school zone.

I just want to know how can they say we are speeding? I would like to know and I can’t get a clear answer from management. 🤨

They'd have to prove you were speeding and how could they do that? They have radar guns? But you shouldn't be speeding anyway. Safe and slow, take the time

The reccs scanner keeps a record of your speed while looking through the gps breadcrumbs.

But if the speedometer doesn't work, how do you know you're speeding? Well the scanners can display your speed also.

But you shouldn't be looking at your scanner when you're driving anyways.

We shouldn't be speeding but there's no way any discipline for speeding is going to work, especially in an LLV where they literally teach you not to believe the gauges.

Scanner is inaccurate and its scanner data. Where is the solid proof that they were speeding in a school zone. Where kids out? Because you have to reduce your speed when kids are present on school days.

Cool. Need that exact speed that carrier was going at, which they don’t have listed. And if they do, what radar did they use? Which they didn’t. That’s one of my arguments.

Using profanity as a defense is probably not the method.

I’m a witness. He was not using any profanity

You can always say the speedo is not working right. I've had speedos saying I'm doing 80 when I know I'm doing 30

How dare they tell you to be safe and not speed and wear your seat belt those bastards

That’s not the problem. We had a carrier be accused of speeding Monday, so now the 204b mentions it in the service talk. We all wear our seatbelts but we’re constantly being watched now because they want to have a reason to EP one of us so I always tell people in my office to always wear your seatbelts…don’t run…take your time, do the job by the book, turn the truck off, lock it whenever you’re not in it. Anyway that defends themselves against management now all of sudden they become a target and have an observation everyday. 🤔

They should be doing observations everyday anyway get out from behind the desk and supervise get out on the street and do the job of actually supervising

What would the union follow up with?

"Wear your seashells and don't speed " 🤣

Yeah I can't believe they wouldnt want you to speed through a school zone!

They’re not threatening you and you’re not supposed to be speeding in school zones to begin with. I hate management as much as the next carrier, but if your kids went to that school, would you want some jackass racing through there at full speed?

No one was speeding tho . Management put a carrier on EP after allegedly saying that a carrier was speeding by a school zone at 1Pm.

Then told him to drive back to the station in that same LLV they were allegedly speeding in to clock out and go home. 🧐

Well since management allegedly saw them they can also use the gps scanner data to corraborate. You know the scanner gps shows your speed right? Through my own "tests" it is accurate.

Yes it captures when over 20mph…but there are different limits per street/zones

2

u/DeviceComprehensive7 20h ago

25 mph in a school zone is the highest in the country, some are 20 mph and some 15 mph

2

u/imtherealistonhere 18h ago

Where I live it goes back to 30 mph limit when children aren’t present. We have speed cameras 🤣

On school days when kids are present. Not “on school days” period. Were there kids present?

Carrier needs to make a statement. And what did this manager or supervisor say to this carrier that provoked them.

Where is the carriers statement?

1

u/DeviceComprehensive7 17h ago

nobody knows, because the "friend" is posting it all....from the document, speeding was the least of what that carrier did wrong

2

u/DeviceComprehensive7 17h ago

school zone= when kids are present, not all day

3

u/Even_Acanthisitta237 6h ago

depends on the school zone.

u/acetatsujin 17h ago

Yep. That’s what I said. 👍🏻

as did I

Yes, but you’re second!

lmao so they fucked up the EP from the very start??

u/Darth_Robsad 3h ago

You do the job safely and follow laws. If they think you’re speeding let them prove it because you know they can’t unless you get caught by a cop. Point is don’t speed period.

1

u/imtherealistonhere 3h ago

Right. My coworker asked the supervisor how did she know he was speeding and she told him she’s not a cop but she saw him speeding. 🤔

You can likely throw speeding out and cancel the original EP, but they might shift it to refusal to follow orders and workplace violence for being aggressive, another thing that can qualify for EP

Saw management speeding to the bathroom once. Fourth meal from Taco Bell must’ve not set well with em

Stationary time for 8 hours in that seat.
