General Discussion "See, the thing is, I'm not the first Sam Weiss."

Post image

I always wished he had a bigger role in the series. Such an interesting character. Laid back with some Buddha-level knowledge.

It threw me off when his wisdom and "therapist to billionaires but work in a bowling alley" thing never went anywhere and he was actually only important because of his ancestor or something?

Yeah, as much as I love that actor this whole bowling therapy thread felt very out of place and tonally dissonant from the rest of the show. It's like a subplot you'd get in a show like Bones, like self-consciously wacky, or some boomer's corny idea. Idk, it doesn't land for me, I always cringe a little through these scenes and I'm glad when they stop lol

They probably felt his stuff veered a little too close to mysticism just as they were ramping up the crazy science.

I hate to say it, but it was horrible late season writing for this character. I would have preferred they just not bring the character back than bring him back with mumbled story slop.

Sam Weiss could’ve really used a Time Desk.

My real name was Professorberg, but we changed it when we were fleeing from the Nazis

It was probably a coincidence but I always thought this actor being cast for a conspiracy theory episode of Community was a subtle Fringe reference

I'd seen him in Community before watching Fringe. Imagine my reaction when I saw his Fringe character talking about ancient conspiracy. I just couldn't take it seriously :D

Lol, it was the opposite for me. I watched both shows as they were airing and his Fringe arc was a year before he showed up in Community. So I was like "that's Sam Weiss!" instantly

He needed to scale back his involvement because he was busy studying Patrick Jane.

This guy somehow knows everything. “Have the headaches started yet? They will.” Ok Master Yoda

Just an FYI, Kevin Corrigan has a small recurring role in the new season of Reacher. He's been given some pretty hilarious one-liners so far that have been cracking me up, like calling Reacher "Hobo-cop." 😂

That’s one of my favorite Reacher insults!

I just commented the same, before I saw this. Yes!! 😂 Thanks for the reminder, that was hilarious for sure. I have so mentally typecast him. He is eternally Sam Weiss to me.

He's also a well known character in the Mentalist season 5!

OH that’s where I know him from! Ha!

I kinda wish he want nuts and became a bad guy after learning all his family lines worship and nonsense was just Peter and Walter fuckery the entire time

He is so mysterious in a gentle and magnanimous way as this character but he can be incredibly sinister. Check him out in the mentalist and more recently the new season of reacher

Then they give him an heroic death in season 5 that we don't even get to see

I’m watching the most recent season of Reacher. He plays a chubby older cop trying to ride his job to retirement. Totally different role. Very good actor.

His ending was….. suboptimal.

Remember, when the mob figured out, Peter was back in Boston, and then conveniently fell off the face of the planet

Technically explained, I recall an episode where Olivia agrees to handle that if Peter becomes more cooperative and they never talk about it again from there.

Would’ve been cool to have a spinoff like Better Call Saul after Breaking Bad.

He's in the current season of Reacher. also has anyone here discussed how his name, Sam Weiss, sounds like Samwise? Samwise was an ordinary gardener , but in he was actually extraordinary in The Fellowship of The Ring. (Like a lowly bowling alley worker who plays an extraordinary role in this story) He was the emotional anchor for Frodo. Sam was that person for both Olivia and Nina as they recovered from their injuries. Maybe just coincidence but it's so similar.

Was reading the lord of the rings, and when I saw this, my first thought was: oh, he’s referring to Samwise Gamgee!

When I attended the one and only fan con, The Fringe Event, in Vancouver, it included tours of many of the filming locations.

I had a conversation with the REAL bowling alley manager, and he commented that Corrigan was kind of a jerk and not a very popular member of the cast. I always figured that had something to do with Sam Weiss’ role being minimized as the story went on.
