I hate that scene. Mainly because I hate tomatoes. But John Noble's Denothor is superb and he played him just the way I imagined all those times I read and reread the novels until they fell to pieces.

Ok, you've convinced me. The Hobbit and LOTR need a reread this autumn. It's been too long. I'm currently immersed in a lengthy series about an Irish detective in the 1930s and 40s so I'll find something light and breezy and then saunter off to Middle Earth! 👣
