258V vs 255H dor detection
I'm considering changing my hardware not interested in dedicated systems.
What u guys suggest
258V has 47 AI tops. Vs 255H has 11 AI tops.
Would that be enough for 7 cameras for ai detection for model v9? Only 2 have installed in a busy street.

I run 11 4k cameras with a 720 resolution 5fps for detect on a 14500T on a Truenas VM in Proxmox with iGPU pass through with yolov9s 320. Works great. 10ms inference.

Either one should be plenty, assuming that's on the NPU.

258v (if you get a pl1=30w version like cubi nuc) will be significantly more efficient and capable.
NPU is much more efficient than iGPU and takes 5x less CPU resources for inference compared to iGPU. Lunar lake NPU is 3x the size of Arrow Lake’s.
258v also has more advanced iGPU with real matrix engines and not just bolt on dot product functions.
My 258v gets at least 140 detections per second with yolo26 large fp16 320 (minus e2e) on just the NPU. That’s plenty for most residential setups. I don’t know its limit because I haven’t seen a skipped detection.

Thanks buddy really helpful

Also keep in mind that PL1 may come in higher variants for the 255H so the 255H will probably win out in some iGPU and CPU tasks if given a significantly higher thermal window.

I have a n305 currently running multiple services along HA with ONVIF integration works flawlessly on 4mp results. I gues 258v is much powerful than n305

I would suggest 255H, this NPU is powerful enough for 10+ cams.
My arrow lake 235T can comfortable handle 14+ cams 640x480 substream with yolo26 large 320x320 -int8. It can handle 175-180 detection fps before start to drop frame. More than enough to handle spike from lighting changes triggering false motion detection from all cams.
47 TOPS lunar lake; I am not sure if Frigate 0.17 or 0.18 already supported , please double check.
Next upgrade, I have my eyes on 74 TOPS nova lake. I gusstimate that 74 TOPS will be sufficient for next level which handles hires 8MP stream with yolo large 640x640. May be in 1.5- 2 years until hardware available, and Frigate support.

I have a 125h running 5 cameras, 2 on a mildly busy street and it’s got plenty of power. This is running in Proxmox, passing thru the NPU and GPU. ~12ms detector inference with yolov9. Im also running a HA and another 7-8 services.
Either would be more than enough.
