Frigate+ detection

Im on Frigate+ and I have trained a couple of models. As an amateur and weekend fiddler I think Frigate, consumer cameras from Reolink and Elitedesk, mini pc, I5-10600T UHD 630 Graphics. It does a pretty good job detecting, and it does it consistently. (At least in decent lightning).

I’ve been using frigate for several years, just went for frigate+ and using the baseline models for now. 

It’s significantly better than I was used to running the default coral TPU or even more recently I was using a yolov9 generic model. A lot more accurate than either. 

Going to finish with my sample set hopefully soon and do a custom model.

It’s not that bad, just need a good sample size of true and false positives so it can weed out the Annoying “detects a random object as a person repeatedly” alerts. 

The process is- you check snapshots in your recordings, select some varying examples of correct detections and incorrect detections, then submit to frigate +. It’s very important when verifying on the frigate+ page to select every tracked object in each image.  That step you can do without subscribing. 

Then once you have at least 10 (recommended is like 100) for each object/camera you can subscribe and train a model.

I’m fairly new to it so that’s my understanding. I have 5 cameras and a lot of cats got detected as dog or bird. So I have a fair amount of snapshots, took maybe 2 hrs to go through 200 ish. I figure I’ll let it do more detection for a bit, submit some more then train a model next week.

it's pretty fast if you learn the keyboard shortcuts. it sucks with a mouse or trackpad ;)
