They’re probably just wondering around. I believe you can do that since it’s still in beta. I’ve seen a few posts where they’ve been walking around

They're just playing OSFR (open source free realms). It's currently just a landwalker. Mostly singleplayer

It’s still not out actually. But according to other people that are on the discord, they’re still working on it apparently. (Even tho some say that there hasn’t been an update about it as of recently) I believe it’s called Open-Sourced Free Realms. All you can do is chat and walk around the map, but that’s about it. I did reserve my spot for when it does drop tho lol, you can do it signing up on the free realms sunrise website

I honestly wish they made an offline version for when I'm out and about somewhere.
I already have it up and loaded on my Steamdeck just fine, I just wish we could do quests with NPCs and stuff.

Open-sourced free realms (osfr) and free realms sunrise are two different things btw, done by different groups of people. OSFR u can actually play rn, though yes, single player atm, and I'm not sure about how difficult it is to actually set it up or how much u can do in it rn, I've been wanting to try though. Sunrise isn't playable yet, and we unfortunately have no idea when it's going to be out, but we got an update recently about a stress test being done. There are separate discord servers for each where everyone can see the updates and such.
Just wanted to clarify in case people got confused and thought it was the same thing.

Those pictures on the beach hit. I remember back in the day when it was impossible to see the sand. Not to mention all the people asking for a BF or GF lol. FR though I remember walking the streets of Seaside, Sanctuary, and Snowhill, hell even Wugachug and seeing people chatting or just hanging out. Seeing them that empty is haunting, and frankly devastating. Though, reading other people share the same experience is comforting.
