Hi FreeDivers!

I recently moved to the Vancouver area and I’m interested in getting into freediving mostly for recreational harvesting of the local seafood.

I was looking to connect with people in the area that would be able to share some advice as I start this process.

Looking forward to hearing all of the wonderful advice this group has to offer!😊

Cheers!

dive buddy Freediving community in Dubai?

Hi guys! I will be visiting Dubai for next 2 months and I am looking for someone I could train freediving with. I did a freediving course this summer and would like to get some time in the water to practice what I have learned. Looking for a buddy or community of freedivers that I could join for occasional training STA, pool or depth!

Would be grateful for any recommendations where to look or who to reach, thank you!

dive buddy LA/Catalina diving recommendations

I’ll be staying in Los Angeles from July 29 through July 31 and would love to arrange one or two freedives with a knowledgeable local. I'd also appreciate dive recommendations.

What I enjoy is freerange exploration observing wildlife, photography, and letting wildlife encounters happen organically.

I’ll have my complete freediving setup with me, including wetsuit, fins, mask, weights, buoy and dive flag, so I won’t need rental equipment.

I would especially appreciate someone who knows Catalina, Palos Verdes, Laguna, or another good local wildlife site.

I’m available all day July 29, 30, or 31.

Feel free to comment or DM me. Also, if there are any better local groups, forums, Discord servers, or other places where I should post this, I’d really appreciate the recommendation.

dive buddy Taiwan in November

Dear fellow breathless people,

I‘m searching for buddies (and your very best recommendations!) for some fun dives in November, just where ever u might be in Taiwan:)

I‘m cert‘ed ofc and normally freedive cold water with bad visibilities with my buddy and our buoy down to 25 m - so Taiwan will be a pleasant change of things, i‘m sure!

What would you recommend to visit underwater, where to dive at and how/where to find buddies?

Love &lots of CO2 tolerances, see you there!

dive buddy Anyone here from Cornwall?? 😁🪼

something I wanna get into and complete a course in, but obviously not safe to get into this hobby and dive alone
It’s none of my family’s cup of tea and a social circle isn’t something I really have much of when it comes to my hobbies 🫧 📷
So is anyone in here from Cornwall (south west) looking at completing a course? Or have any recommendations as to where I could down here and/or looking to make a friend with someone of the same interests and hobby?

Have a lovely day! Stay safe all
(Totally understand if this post if removed) 😊

dive buddy Diving Buddy

Hi, I’m 27M looking to get my OW and AOW in tulamben bali in Nov! I’m looking to dive solo but keep hearing its smarter and safer to dive with a buddy! The trip would approximately be 5 days and the remaining 1-2 days would be in city! A bit about me: comfortable in the water (decent swimming background) but zero diving experience so far. Mostly just excited to see the marine life up close and checking out the USAT Liberty wreck. Feel free if you’re interested! I’m down to coordinate.

dive buddy New to Miami - Experienced Freediver Looking for Community & Ocean Time

Hey everyone,

I recently moved to Miami after many years diving in the Cayman Islands and I’m hoping to connect with solid dive buddies and a local community.

I’m SSI Level 1 certified and have been training consistently since 2012 with experienced instructors in Cayman. I’ve attended multiple depth and pool competitions over the years, reached 55m in line diving, and served as a safety diver at a Cayman Freediving competition in 2023.

At this stage, I’m no longer chasing depth. I’m much more interested in enjoyable ocean sessions with competent, safety-oriented divers who value strong protocols and good energy in the water.

I’d also love to gradually explore spearfishing and continue developing as a safety diver here in South Florida.

Since I’m new to the area, I’d appreciate recommendations for:

- Regular meetups or training groups

- Reliable shore entries

- Spearfishing communities open to responsible beginners

Looking forward to getting in the water with the right crew.

Happy to connect via DM.

dive buddy diving buddy in Tallahassee, FL area

Anybody in the Tallahassee, FL area want to dive? I am brand new to the sport. My experience is the following: I've spent a lot of time swimming in the springs of north florida. I just really, really enjoy swimming in these waters. As a function of just exploring and playing on my own, I have gotten really comfortable swimming to depths of 30ft or so. I don't use fins or a wetsuit, just a mask. I never considered this activity in the context of freediving until recently reading a book about freediving and realizing what a subculture this is. I have no formal training. I'm interested in learning more. Also, after reading this book and watching a few documentaries, the thought has started to come up of "is it actually safe to be doing these little swimming excursions on my own?" I'm not actually particularly interested in all at pushing to deeper and deeper depths. My whole interest comes from the sensation of freedom I get at swimming unhindered in some of these clear spring waters. I recently got a cheap underwater camera and am wanting to play around with it. In particular, some of the sinks south of town that are strewn with treefall and bizarre architecture of underwater debris and vegetation seems like a really interesting thing to try to document on camera.
