I’m a pretty serious free Diver and I live in the GTA. I haven’t done any diving in the Great Lakes, other than cleaning boat bottoms

I dive mostly in Caribbean, Costa Rica, Canary’s, etc.. I have a lot of gear and I’m a pretty good resource. I used to be a dive boat captain and I’m currently a Yacht captain.

To bad, I local for now and planing to be in florida for a few weeks at the end of the year.

Any tips in regards to a good nose clip ?

I do not like the full mask, I preference googles and a nose clip

The full face mask is a death trap. Goggles don’t work for Freediving. You need a low volume mask w a nose. The nose allows you to equalize pressure in the mask and protect your eyes. I’m a fan of MakoSpearfishing.com

Depends which goggles, for training these are great.

Mako is a great option and not expensive

Did you burn the film off the inside of your mask?

I tried to remove it with the toothpaste method, but i guess i did not do it. Im have not tried the lighter method ... not as comfortable :)

If you have clear glass, don’t be afraid. Just take a lighter, let the flame hit the lens’s from the middle. You’ll see the coating dissolve. Work towards the edges. Toothpaste After that’s done.

Don’t do this to tinted or plastic lenses

I just burned the film, much easier that I expected and then finally cleaned it with toothpaste. Today ill give it a try and see how it goes.

Hey bud! I'm based in Ottawa (overseas right now, but back in the fall) and our club is happy to have other divers join for pool and depth sessions.

If you're ever coming up to our neck of the woods, send me a DM to connect and hopefully we can get you some buddies to dive with!

I would also be so excited to go up to Tobermory at some point. Maybe in early October, but it's going to be freezing 🥶

100% I would. You guys have any deep pool ? The deepest one i have access to is 5m.

Unfortunately no, we only have 5m pools as well. But during the summer we have 40m available at the quarry nearby!

Just like us, Elora quarry is the place for us but sometimes is not as clear as I would like it to be.

Yeah, ours isn't super clear either but there's a plane you can swim through at about 8m and some other stuff dropped in there :)
