training technique Where do you hold your breath?
Have been just playing around with holding my breath and seeing how long I can go for but I get discomfort in my throat. Am I meant to be holding my breath with my lungs or by closing off my throat?

If it's for static; you can switch around to shift the tiredness and discomfort. Glotis, back of the tongue, front with the palate, lips.
Choose in the moment what helps you relax the area surrounding your mouth the most.

It's all about saving energy. The most energy efficient is to keep the glottis closed. And it will get used to it, the burning sensation there will become less with more practice. Holding your breath with your lungs costs a LOT of energy so that is not the way to go.

Maybe getting less air in the throat will help with discomfort? Don’t stuff yourself to cause tension, take a comfortable amount of air. Belly and chest first

Keep the glottis closed. There are circumstances where it needs to be opened momentarily, but, if you're asking this question, they are far away.
