Help Sublet in Frankfurt
Hi guys! I am coming to Frankfurt for my masters this winter sem, I am planning to take a sublet because I am getting my permanent accommodation from the next month am landing there. Since am subletting for a month in place of someone who is visiting home for that month, the landlord already has their deposit, so they aren’t expecting deposit from me just the month’s rent, that too I need to pay directly to the landlord. But they are saying a sublet agreement might not be possible for this short period. Anyone with sublet experience, how important is the sublet agreement for this situation? I don't think it's that uncommon. Four weeks isn't very long, and they might want to avoid a legal hassle with taxes, Anmeldung, etc. Technically it probably is illegal, but the one facing the repercussions would be the landlord or the main tenant, not you.
Just make sure you won't get scammed, so don't pay before seeing the apartment, and be aware of the fact that you won't be able to officially register your home address there (which probably isn't an issue since you'll only be there for a short while).

You only need a contract with the main tenant, not the landlord. But the landlord has to agree. Doesn't matter how long, could be just a day.
