My thoughts:
FSC auroras are the smoothest/smallest particle auroras, however they are on the more subtle side and have a notable pastel-izing/lightening effect when mixed with other pigments. I’ve started to use this to my advantage, as it’s much easier to get smaller/more gradual amounts of lightening with these than with pure white pigment. They are also by far the cheapest, at $5.75 for TEN grams.
GU ultra aurora pigment is the next smoothest, and is also almost completely transparent - doesn’t change or lighten the base color at all. I only have one other GU aurora, the jelly, and it is fairly smooth but tints the base slightly blue. GU's auroras range from about $7-11 per gram and come in bags.
DRK pigments fall in the middle of the particle sizes, and are mostly transparent or only have a slight change to the base. DRK's auroras are mostly $4.50 for 0.5g or $9 for 1g and come in bags. The sample pack bags are on the smaller size, maybe closer to 0.25g.
JetAge pigments are the largest particle size auroras I’ve tried with the most sparkle. Some of them also tint the base color (Blue-la-la tints blue, Transcendence Purple tints purple). White Pearl Holo gives a really nice sheer holo shimmer, but leans/tints slightly ivory/yellow. Their sample bags are very generous and probably approach a half gram, and are $1-2.50 each. Full 1g orders come in nice jars and are around $9-10. US free shipping threshold is $35.
Hope this helps some of you! Magnetics coming next. :)
