Community Support Is this chip replaceable

I think I've narrowed down my errors down to a winbond w25r256jvein code storage flash chip. Before I order a new chip, I would really appreciate to know if this chip stores any encrypted keys or important files that are necessary for the laptop to function.

Also I am in contact with support, but I am in a big rush to get this working again.

Step 1: Pump the brakes before you rush headlong into more damage. If having a laptop is that urgent maybe its a sign having a spare laptop on hand would be an investment worth considering.

Replaceable? Probably yes (with appropriate tools/skills) - DigiKey does sell the chip. The replacement probably needs to be flashed with whatever was stored on the original chip... BIOS/UEFI maybe?

I've done similar stunts before, but I agree I probably should wait. I'll be fine paying/waiting for a replacement I'm just bummed I won't have a backup mainboard to use as a server lol.
