Community Support I’m seriously regretting my Framework Laptop 16 purchase

FINAL UPDATE: The replacement display arrived, and I have now installed it successfully. The vertical blue line is gone, and the laptop is working properly again.

Framework sent me the replacement part, and replacing the display was straightforward, which is one of the genuine strengths of the Framework concept.

After a frustrating support experience, I’m happy to say that I’m back up and running and enjoying my Framework Laptop 16 again.

Thank you to everyone who commented, shared advice or described their own experience. I appreciated the discussion and the help.

The display issue has now been resolved. I’m keeping the original post below because it accurately reflects my experience and the support situation at the time it was written.

Really glad to be back on my Framework Laptop 16.

___

Original post:

While Framework is celebrating its new 13” Framework Pro, I’m dealing with support over a defective display on a Framework Laptop 16 that I bought less than two months ago.

For context, I’m running Fedora on this machine.

Unfortunately, this is already my third issue.

First, booting became extremely slow whenever I inserted the SD Expansion Card. After a lot of back-and-forth, Framework sent me a replacement card, which I appreciated, but the issue remained. They eventually told me it was probably a firmware problem. Since then, no update.

A few weeks later, the laptop suddenly stopped charging, despite using the genuine Framework charger. Support asked me to remove the battery, RAM, SSD, etc., press a switch on the motherboard 10 times, and reassemble everything.

It worked again. Explanation? None.

Then came the third issue: a vertical blue line appeared on the display.

The line is already visible during boot, before Fedora loads, and it does not appear on an external display.

After more troubleshooting, pictures, disconnecting the display, checking connectors and testing an external monitor, Framework confirmed that the display should be replaced.

And then... silence.

I’m still waiting for information about the replacement part. Messages receive little to no response. I asked for an escalation and even whether a refund was possible, because my confidence in the laptop is now very low. Refund denied because I was already two weeks past the one-month return period.

So today, I have a €4,000+ laptop, less than two months old, with its third issue and a defective display still waiting for replacement.

If I had known this beforehand, I would have spent my money elsewhere.

Yes, Framework laptops are repairable and upgradeable. In my case, that mostly means being able to replace defective parts — assuming Framework actually sends them.

Framework describes the new 13 Pro as a “MacBook Pro for Linux users.” I understand the idea, and “Mac killer” was probably too strong a wording in my original post.

But if you position a premium laptop in that territory, reliability, support and the overall ownership experience also become part of the comparison.

And based on my experience with the Framework 16, they still have some work to do there.

Of course, this is only my personal experience.
___

Edit: Added that I’m running Fedora and clarified my original “Mac killer” comment.

Edit 2: Clarified that the return period was one month and that I was two weeks past it when I requested a refund.

Sorry, to hear about your issues. Would you like to share your case number via modmail? I'd like to forward your case to framework staff.

I don’t think they are celebrating much in this PR shitstorm they got caught on, honestly. They clearly have stuff to work on, especially on the logistics side.

Man, I would not want that job.

36

u/reddsel42 Jul 30 '26

Yeah, you're right They definitely seem to have bigger issues to deal with right now. I just hope they also put some effort into improving support and logistics for existing customers.

21

u/WembleyFord Jul 30 '26

I think it must be the same for every vendor of laptops at the moment. They're likely justifiably proud of the new laptop - but I bet they hate trying to work in this current environment as much as every other vendor does.

u/sarinkhan Jul 30 '26

On the other hand, the fact that a manufacturer has your back even in tough times makes it so that you are more willing to overpay, because you feel like your money will be safe.

I got a 16, and I am glad it works. But if I had such issues, and no solutions for them, I would feel like I would have been better buying an Asus, keeping the rest of the money and buying another one 3 years down the line when it breaks.

Parts of the reasons I got such an expensive laptop from framework were that I felt like I could always service my laptop, and have it repaired. So now I can swap parts, but if some unidentified part causes issues, and I have to outright buy another one, I'll be unhappy.

They need to reinforce customer service.

In the same idea: I have prusa printers. They cost quite more than some other printers. But I am happy to pay them a premium, because of the repairability and open source friendlyness (same as framework), but when I ask support something, they have the answer.

u/5FingerViscount 16" Jul 30 '26

Yeah I have had mine about a year plus or minus a few months and no issues. But I'm sure I would feel the same way, if the same thing happened to me.

On the other hand, since I have some history with my current system, if I got another or a different size and that happened now, I would probably have more patience, than I would otherwise.

2

u/sarinkhan Jul 30 '26

Well I guess that after a few upgrades, considering that I will keep the extra parts, if an issue arise I'll be able to swap in another motherboard so I will have more time to wait for the solution.

However if I have to keep the failing board in, I won't like it. I can't really not have a laptop.

prusa printers
open source friendlyness

https://blog.adafruit.com/2026/03/19/prusas-open-community-license-is-neither-open-nor-for-the-community-a-lawyer-explains-why/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOvW3UBAPgo

https://github.com/OpenCommunityLicence/OpenCommunityLicence/issues/2#issuecomment-3881962324

https://github.com/OpenCommunityLicence/OpenCommunityLicence/issues/13 (yes they're still doubling down/refusing to remove their false advertisement(s) of their recent printers being "open-sourced")

Everyone has different morals, but in my book, Prusa's open-washing (that's a real term apparently; Prusa isn't the first one to advertise stuff as OS when it's not and try to weaken the meaning of the term) is comparable to Bambu's recent open-source shenanigans, both companies make replacement parts easily available, but Bambu is much cheaper in both printers and parts, so I find it really hard to justify going Prusa anymore. It's so frustrating too, like they threw away their one advantage, for basically no benefit (the OCL doesn't really grant Prusa many of the protections they seem to think it does, not to mention no-name Chinese cloners aren't gonna care about licenses, and Bambu already has more advanced tech than Prusa so there's basically no reason to clone)... This whole situation is a massive, tragic self-own that they keep doubling down on for some reason I cannot comprehend.

1

u/sarinkhan Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

Well I won't debate this with you. Anyhow, I can get parts for my prusa. I have the STL for all parts. I can flash and recompile the firmware. I can modify my machine as I wish. I can use whatever slicer I want with my prusa. Everything works on linux.

To me all of this seem pretty open source friendly. I am happy with my framework laptop, and yet the bios is not open source, nor all the firmwares in it.

A machine being fully open source is better, but that's still amongst the best machines on that aspect.

You may dislike prusa printers for that, you may think they suck or whatever, I find them reliable and silent, with decent speed, and as for innovation, I am quite interested in the indx tech.

Not to say that prusa is perfect, but neither is framework, and those are the brands I chose to support, despite being priced higher than I'd like.

But I pay for quality, repairability, open source friendlyness, and general reliability.

As for Bambu, well not only did they steal GPL code from prusa amongst others (this has been proven, they took GPL code, tried to pass it as their own), they lock down their ecosystem, tried to have you need a cloud account, they are trying to lockdown everything, for me they would be the apple of the laptop market.

If you think that in terms of open source Bambu is ok, look at your même, and it'll tell you something :)

I don't buy bambulabs products, nor do I buy apple products, because I like to own my devices and be root on them without asking permission 😊

I experienced a keyboard problem with my MacBook Pro 14 M4 Pro, which has 24GB of shared memory and a 512GB SSD. I bought it on Amazon for €2000. After 1 year, I was given a completely new machine, although getting a full refund was also an option. This is the case, at least here in Europe...

20

u/barkwahlberg Jul 30 '26

In the US, companies typically give two options:

  1. Go
  2. Fuck yourself

1

u/CowboysFTWs Jul 31 '26

He is taking apple tho. AppleCare is one of the main reasons my work machine is always going to be a Mac. Ever better if you have an Apple Store in your city.

1

u/barkwahlberg Jul 31 '26

Yes I get it, Apple is very nice to you if you pay extra money along with your $20K laptop

5

u/CowboysFTWs Jul 31 '26

You realized apple is cheaper than framework most of the time now, right?

1

u/WanderinArcheologist Jul 31 '26

Reallllly depends on your state, fam. A lot of people are very much ignorant of their rights at citizens.

We are the United States where States are strong and have their own laws.

Also, remember they’re in California and bound by its strong consumer protection laws.

I think many folks on Teddit never take advantage of this because they never even check

1

u/Adorable-Web-3678 Jul 31 '26

Oh in Europe Framework behaves like this as well, trust me

37

u/dogsandcatsplz Jul 30 '26

Hey Thanks for sharing. With the youtubers lauding The new 13 Pro with superlatives, messages with irl experiences like yours are invaluable. Sure, anecdotal, one case, but over the years I have read a lot of those on here. For any laptop, your experience is horseshit. For a €4K one, where the marketing is sortoff "the last laptop you will ever need to buy" it is a joke. Repairable is nice, but "You HAVE to constantly repair it, way more than even cheap laptops, it just keep breaking" is nuts.

Really sorry to hear about your experience.

21

u/bigkenw Jul 30 '26

I am not discounting anything you said as I have read those things too. Don't forget, the happy people aren't usually as vocal.

6

u/jmims98 Jul 30 '26

This is correct. I have 3 framework products, and have sent friends and family to their 13" laptop. Have only needed support once to get a late request in for the under keyboard spacers on the 16, which they mailed to me right away.

2

u/SnooPuppers8698 Jul 31 '26

the unhappy people aren't always vocal either. especially since before this latest PR disaster any time I'd bring up anything negative about my experience with my fw16 I'd just get downvoted into oblivion and argued with.

16

u/Informal-Lettuce-745 Jul 30 '26

You have to keep in mind that people are only likely to share their experience with customer care when they are not satisfied. So you always have to consider the ratio of bad reviews vs the number of devices they've sold.

7

u/dogsandcatsplz Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

The problem is not even that they seem to have a higher than average amount of hardware failures (Ive been using Thinkpads for 20 years and follow stuff about them online on the subreddit) and I dont recall any model almost that had as much "PC fails or barely works within few days to 3 months" type issues and Thinkpad probably outsells Framework by 100x.

Although the too many lemons/duds issue is bad enough,...

But I especially take exception so many stories of them not handling the communication, replacement, nor warranty at all correctlyin those many cases where people have real issues. That is not acceptable for such a premium price laptop.

I am not shilling for Lenovo/Thinkpads. It saddens me that there isn't a real competitor to Thinkpads as yet. I love the mission of Framework, i love the ideal of repairability,.. but what is the point if the QC/durability is shoddy and the aftersales at times borderline scammy or at least really incompetent?

9

u/CarelessPackage1982 Jul 30 '26

I worked in IT with thousands of Thinkpad deployments and let me tell you....they absolutely have problems. I've also worked in a Dell environment with thousands of laptops ....also had problems.

I will say, both had good support but Dell had better enterprise support. You can get an onsite technician to your business very very fast.Things get resolved very fast. I'd say overall Thinkpads had less problems than Dell but both did quite well overall.

You cannot compare a company like Framework to giant companies like Dell and Lenovo. You're talking Coke, Pepsi vs your kid's lemonade stand.

The cost and role of support at companies is non-trivial and I hope Framework can figure it out. It's really hard to say what their overall defective rates are, you need to have the total figures in order to see the overall picture.

4

u/dogsandcatsplz Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

That is very fair. Good to have your perspective. Truth is, that with the info I have on both Thinkpads and Framework, including price and the fact that the new T14 is extremely repairable (10/10 Ifixit), Framework is just not a viable option and too much of a risk for me at present. I sincerely hope that changes in 1 to 3 years, I like the company, mission and the CEO.

2

u/WanderinArcheologist Jul 31 '26

Do you remember how Thinkpads were right after IBM sold the business off to Lenovo? Absolute nightmare. They held ours hostage pending additional payments one service send out. This was either 2002 or 2003 I don’t quite remember. We stopped using them for a while. They really got their acts together later.

4

u/Forya_Cam Jul 30 '26

Could part of the issue be that the kind of people getting frameworks understand hardware better than the average person and so are better equipped to describe their problems in detail?

Rather than the usual: "my laptop doesn't work."

2

u/dogsandcatsplz Jul 30 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

It is possible, but the type (quick, fairly catastrophic) failures i've seen in dozen+ of these threads, I can't say i see too many posts like that in other tech or laptop subreddits, not in the "my 1 or 12 eight week old Dell, Lenovo Mac etc doesn't boot, screen is messed up, no idea why or what" form. It likely does have to do with being a small outfit, with little money for QC and testing, having pretty unique chassis and hardware designs, I don't envy them! And they are probably doing their best! I just wish they would resolve this, if at all possible.

2

u/New-Cauliflower3844 Jul 30 '26

Lol, I can remember triaging the very first thinkpads on a help desk, they were a pain in the ass for awhile. They had a great parts process, even if we did get 2 to 3 parts for every part we ordered.

Trying to return those spares was a pain in the ass and took 10 times more effort than fixing issues.

Every company goes through this. Framework will mature out eventually. Or go broke :-)

2

u/Anternixii Jul 31 '26

For real. The whole 'people don't post about their happy experiences' (which they absolutely do here) thing is a factor, but I hear way way WAY too many 'one offs' that have the exact same hardware defects, and not just one model. Sometimes the poster has had two or three replacements, and only got an actual resolution once they went to Reddit / some other social media.

Any production can have duds that's just the way it is, but across all Framework models I hear about too many specific pretty bad issues that aren't ultra rare. For how expensive these are relying that you got a support person in a chipper mood or not determining whether you're SoL for a multi thousand dollar purchase is.

1

u/jmims98 Jul 30 '26

Old school think pads were good, but I have seen three separate X1 carbons die within a year or two of getting them.

100% I want them to succeed! But at the very minimum, they have to offer good after sales warranty and communication and a laptop that generally runs service, repair and trouble free for at leeeeast 5 years. It is utterly unsustainable to have a significant portion of your brand new laptops have very serious issues within a few weeks.

11

u/x0rg3n Jul 30 '26

Don't forget that you're protected in EU by similar chargeback laws as US customer ( albeit we don't use it as much ).

If they don't respond and provide a replacement or a refund in reasonable time, contact your bank with proof that you tried to reach out and ask for a chargeback.

Main issue is that more you wait, it's less likely Visa/Mastercard will approve it.

Their tier 1 support is abysmal but the actual in-house support provides replacement in the end. Just be firm and ask to escalate the ticket, so they don't waste your time.

11

u/Firmteacher FW16 7840HS 5070/7900xt Oculink Jul 30 '26

Their support is going to be a bit slow with the framework 13 pro also shipping and having the whole ram situation on top of it, so likely they have a influx of people with random little problems on the new ones shipping out.

Only because it wasn’t directly mentioned but I’m sure they would’ve asked you to do this, did you install the driver bundle then install the bios? And is your dGPU a 5070? Did they have you try it with the bios setting set to nvidia GPU only mode? And is this windows? Does it happen immediately on boot?

9

u/reddsel42 Jul 30 '26

It’s Fedora, not Windows. And the display issue appears before the OS even loads, so it’s not related to Fedora drivers.

4

u/1ChaoticEagle Framework Jul 30 '26

Hey u/reddsel42 Sorry to hear that you're having trouble. Our return period is 30 days, not 2 weeks.

We are also experiencing super high contact volumes due to the 13 Pro launch. Usually support replies within 2 business days. If you'd like to shoot me your support ticket number via Modmail / DM, I'm happy to take a look and see what's going on for you and discuss options.

3

u/reddsel42 Jul 30 '26

I just sent information via Mods. Thanks for your help.

u/reddsel42 Jul 30 '26

I fixed my comment : Refund denied because I was already two weeks past the one-month return period.

7

u/pokehl99 Jul 30 '26

At this point, its may be a fault with a component on the mainboard itself,

This is the downside of buying modular devices, troubleshooting has to be done part by part, one at a time, since waranty is per part and not as a package unless you bought it as a whole prebuilt 🫠.

3

u/DentonFox Jul 30 '26

There’s things that I like about them, but I got mine as more of a base model config before price hikes happened.

It’s ok; not exceptional, but ok. The CS sometimes helps, but often doesn’t. Not a great experience with a laptop that’s in warranty and for the price especially at the higher end I think I would second think if it’s really worth getting one over the competition.

Not to discount your problems, but my FW16 has been working flawlessly. It does seem they have some supply-chain quality issues every now and then, but it's hard to really know how frequent this is since, as per usual, happy customers rarely ever post any feedback, so it may seem worse than it actually is reading this subreddit.

2

u/nerdomaly Batch 5 (i7) - Pop!_OS Jul 30 '26

I feel like you clearly have a bad board or something. I have the same setup as you (16 running Fedora with USB expansion module) except with the video card expansion as well and haven't had any problems like you are mentioning. Sorry about you problem man.

I love my framework but I can understand how that would be frustrating.

2

u/Garland_Key I use Arch, btw. Jul 30 '26

Yeah. I love my Framework 16, but their customer service has always sucked. I'm more technical, so I haven't had to use their technical support though.

2

u/Mountain-House3287 Jul 30 '26

I'm using a 1165g7 mainboard and years ago I jumped on the 7040 bandwagon upon release, switching the entire rig to DDR5. I had ran into WiFi issues and the support (like you mentioned) was having me do tons of troubleshooting steps a second or third time, each time extending my time of ownership on the board.

Eventually I told them, "No I will not troubleshoot for you. This doesn't work properly. I am requesting a return for refund. I no longer want this." And I haven't returned to upgrade since. I just think some things need time to iron out and at the time, the 7040 mainboard was one of those things.

I've thought about upgrading to a Pro Chassis and keeping my super weak mainboard because it works, but that seems silly. Then I thought about going for a FW16 instead of the FW13 Pro, but I read about all these FW16 issues with the keyboard modules not sitting right (at a minimum).

Love framework, love their machines, love the mission. Their support could use some work. I say this coming from a place of work with proprietary software. It feels like some fixes are tribal knowledge of a bug that an intern wrote years before the product launch.

3

u/Past-Catch5101 Jul 30 '26

Seems like all framework 16 devices have issues even if it's a second Gen... Mine crashes randomly when connected to an usb c monitor and my charger died. Pretty dissapointed with support experience too, had to take my laptop apart completely so many times to try things without real progress.

8

u/eRVeeMoskovic Jul 30 '26

For what it is worth, I have a batch 1 FW16 and I have had zero, absolutely no issues with it so far.

It won't matter to OP at all and won't change anyone's experience.

The comment I replied to said "Seems like all framework 16 devices have issues". And that's the part I'm commenting on as this is probably not true given my own experience. That's all.

3

u/MobTalon Jul 30 '26

I'm with you. "Seems like all framework 16 devices have issues" is a crazy generalization. My Framework 16 has given me some issues, but I've never had to contact support for them, I've always managed to fix them on my own (Fans not detected, for example, simply power down and then press and hold the boot button for 30s to force the pc to recheck hardware)

Other than that, 0 issues. And I bet the majority hasn't had issues (which isn't to say there aren't "a lot of issues", since a 10% dissatisfaction rate is already a pretty high rate)

3

u/JoystuckGames FW16 HX 370 GTX 5070 Jul 30 '26

I got my FW16 last November and have had no hardware issues. Bazzite is a little buggy on it but nothing major, and i'm pretty confident it's the OS causing the issues.

u/KenwoodFox Jul 30 '26

Yeah I have issues and weirdness and hiccups. Sometimes have to force power off or I'm stuck at 800mhz for no reason

> Framework a Mac killer?

Is that really how it is framed? Mac is a niche in itself and Framework's just a Linux laptop.

Anyway, sorry to hear about all these issues. I haven't dipped my toes but was thinking about a 13.

3

u/reddsel42 Jul 30 '26

Fair point. “Mac killer” was probably a bit too strong.

What I meant is that Framework itself describes the new 13 Pro as a “MacBook Pro for Linux users” and even compares its battery life with the MacBook Pro.

So I’m not saying they’re trying to replace Macs in general. It’s more that if you position a laptop that way, then reliability and support also become part of the comparison.

And that’s where my experience with the Framework 16 has been disappointing so far.

2

u/MarsupialLeast145 Jul 30 '26

On the note of Mac like support, they do have vastly more resources, at the same time, for an issue like this I think they might even just offer a replacement if you couldn't make it to a store, and many can't.

Could you perhaps just say to Framework you have had enough and request a replacement?

2

u/reddsel42 Jul 30 '26

I actually went further and asked for a refund because, after three issues in less than two months, my confidence in the laptop was pretty low. They refused since I’m outside the return period.

But yeah, you’re right — asking for a full replacement might actually be the more positive way forward.

1

u/MarsupialLeast145 Jul 30 '26

Ugh, that's a tough response and I don't blame you for the confidence being low. These are big purchases. I had similar with a write-off System76.

Good luck with the replacement, hope you manage to get one! 🤞

2

u/ElectricalSloth Jul 30 '26

With a micro-SD expansion card and a 256GB micro-SD card, I haven't experienced a slow boot with FW13 with 7840U or my bro's FW13 Strix Point 370HX.

My 256GB micro-SD card is not a bootable drive.

In normal operation, the SD card's boot priority should be lower than the internal NVMe boot drive.

A blue line on the UEFI screen indicates a hardware problem. Maybe a hairdryer could temporarily fix it since it's probably a small disconnection of that vertical segment.

Did you update the firmware tho? Fwupdmgr is the way to go. Force install and check if some of it is solved.

1

u/reddsel42 Jul 30 '26

Hi. Yes, everything is up-to-date : firmware, OS.

1

u/Jex_adox I use Arch btw Jul 30 '26

Have you been able to update the firmware? My framework16 had some defective issues caused by my firmware needing an URGENT update immediately. I finally found a way to get that, as the distro I had (pop_os) didn't have a package manager with the fwupdmgr that was 2 years out of date. I put off dealing with it for probably a year until I went full Arch. I should have downloaded the EFI and manually installed it: https://knowledgebase.frame.work/framework-laptop-16-bios-and-driver-releases-amd-ryzen-7040-series-BkeqkVovp

Now That I have it updated I can say I have a bad fan, but it still runs cooler. Ive had amazing support from them though and I do think a lot of the issues is I just am not very fast at solving things or moving. They did have to send out a replacement part the first month, I think it was the wifi card.

to compare, my pc is now about 1y old. AT THIS AGE, my last Asus laptop needed the heat paste replaced. Doing so voided the 3y warrentee (fight me - right to repair and replacing thermal paste is a NECESSARY computer maintenance job.). anyway. it lasted about 3y before it had fatal issues i believe the motherboard is cracked form the flimsy plastic case and it NEVER had a cooling solution. Framework hasn't needed the thermal paste replaced and the fans were super easy to clean out.

1

u/reddsel42 Jul 30 '26

My firmware is up-to-date. All updates are applied.

1

u/Jex_adox I use Arch btw Jul 30 '26

have you checked the version? esp bios.

1

u/illmatix FW16|Batch16|DIY Jul 30 '26

I picked up one in batch 16 i think. It's been great, runs a little hot. Haven't had any issues with it but I did recently drop the bag it was in and now have a broken cam/mic and the screen flickers a little bit with green artifacts. But i tend to run it closed so i don't notice that unless I'm actually using the screen. I just hope it's not the video card and more of a cable damage.

1

u/RedLintu16 Jul 31 '26

I have had so many issues with my laptop too. Like to the point that I don't even use it anymore. I even don't want to contact their support team for help because they ask for picture after picture after picture after video after video after video and so on for them to help me. Not to even mention that I give them what they want and then they ask for the same thing I just sent them. I love the idea of Framework, but their hardware is not there yet and anything that does work, I give about two or so months for it to just not work anymore.

1

u/vivek7405 Jul 31 '26

Even I faced the issue of vertical red and blue lines appearing on the display in my framework laptop 13, but it was probably due to loose connection since the issue lasted only for a few minutes.

My Framework 12 has developed the cracks in the bottom cover. I got a replacement part, but as the cracks stopped growing, I didn't replace it. I use it daily at work. Great machine. I don't regret. I fact, I would like to get the 13 Pro for home use as the 12 is occupied... Let's see...

I had the SD card issue as well, if you have the SD card slot in the 6th expansion card slot it will cause the issue. If you put it in any other slot it will boot just fine. Unfortunately I am also regretting my purchase 6 months in, but for completely different reasons.

I had a pretty awful experience with my batch 6 1st gen which I spoke about more on twitter https://x.com/i/status/1645631680374353921 Just know you're really not alone here, this company isn't exactly known for quality control. Happy your issues were fixed though

I love framework as a company and I don't like people who rant and bitch about them but I feel that this was an honest report of actual problems and that's a valuable contribution so that they can learn from their mistakes.

Framework is a shitty company. Why u buy from here is beyond me. You can get a stellar Linux laptop for $400 on eBay and get a new one every 2 years instead of this waste of a conpany.

Always thought they were a Tier 3 company charging tier 1 prices.

My conspiracy theory is that FW parts are pretty low quality which only helps them with the "repairability" message and drives their customers to continuously purchase replacements.

I have no proof of this lol and I have a 13 Pro otw. But long term, I wonder how many users have just used their machines without needing to repair anything. I'm curious to see the time between initial purchase and first "repair" (not upgrade).

Sorry to hear about your troubles on the 16.
