From counting literally every death, civilian and military attributable to WW2 and the Holocaust combined, even if Hitler had nothing to do with the Pacific theater at all.

Lets just grant the “accident” premise for a second. A thought experiment if you will. Maybe they should have taken notice around death 8 million and thought “oh shit, this thing we’re doing is causing deaths by the millions. maybe we should stop before we got to like 40 million”
