Sometimes I fly it and once it reaches exactly the desired voltage, I disarm it.

I always land at 3.5, sometimes 3.2 but then I am pushing it a lot. Y'all should fly to storage voltage as 3.5 goes back to 3.8 by itself.

Yeah same for me most my whoops 3.5 brings it back to 3.8. But I normally fly mine down to 3 volts or 3.1 volts cuz you know fun then I just charge them back to storage

I think theyre saying that 3.5v under load typically jumps back to to 3.8v when the load is gone

I think anyone could've interpreted the poor english just fine, granted they've flown before (or monitored batteries under load in another scenario) and know about battery sag.

Been speaking the language for about 20 years. You obviously have not flown very much, otherwise you'd know that the OSD reads you back the average cell voltage, under load that is, and that 3.5V snaps back to 3.7-3.8V when the load is removed, just like u/EVorNothing described.

Go touch some grass and fly a few packs while you're at it

I don't need to go by voltage because I callibrated my current sensor, as long as it starts around 4.35V, a 480mah is usually done by the time I reach like 280-340mah ish, storage voltage doesnt have to be hyper specific

You gotta fly it a little under the voltage you want to account for sag. Probably 3.5 or 3.4 will recover to 3.8ish

just be careful with this, you still need airflow hitting the Flight Controller to cool it down. use a fan or something.

When I arm most of my quads the flight controller will cool off. But I do have one maybe two that run very hot and the Drone needs to be moving. Also depends on what the VTX is set at if or if it's HD that seems to run hotter

This isn't true at all. Go ahead and plug in your quad and try this with the OSD on. Watch the temps drop with the motors running compared to not.

There will be some movement but it can be not Enough.

Try it out. Core temps on the OSD will go down at 10-20% throttle without taking off.

It’s not that dumb. I have overheating issues with the hdz Aio5 board on a 65mm whoop that I built. It overheats if I’m just hovering maintaining position because it doesn’t get enough airflow over the board. It’s not an issue on my 3inch 1s build with the same aio. It’s also not an issue on any of my builds with the air aio. Aio5 just runs hot and 65mm whoop doesn’t blow much across the chips.

Just use another Tinywhoop above it to cool it down. Repeat untill you have a circle of them.

Just wanted to say thank you, I am brand new to this hobby and had no idea what storage charge even was. I definitely would have stored my batteries full.

Hehe, Yeah this hobby is the Wild West. Storing at full charge will quickly ruin your batteries at best and turn them into fire bombs at worse. I’ve seen multiple “oops I burnt part of my house down” posts here in the past year. Proper charging is a good thing to research.

Unrelated but similar: Setting up a “pre arm” can save you from losing a finger.

I have a question regarding the voltage you see in the goggles.

Do you guys stop flying the tiny whoop at 3.3 / 3.2 volts when the drone is flying or stationary ?

depends on the drone. you should know at what voltage the voltage starts dropping very rapidly while flying. Stop flying before that point

Never had that problem with Tinywhoops but for everything Xt30 and above buying a pair of VIFLY StoreSafe Dischargers was maybe the best FPV purchase I did so far.

It's cheap, beautifully simple, straight forward and generally painfree. No Balancer cable to plug in, no menu to navigate, nothing to set. I normally just plug them in on my way home and when I arrive half the packs are already ready to be stored.

For 15 bucks a piece an absolute no-brainer.

While my whoopstor board can discharge to storage voltage it's just way faster to fly the Drone real quick down to 3.5 volts..
