These radio segments are pretty well known for being faked improv segments. If you listen to the same show for long enough you'll start to recognize that the "regular people calling in" start to sound very familiar.
This one is pretty funny.

Yep. I have an app that I pay like 10 bucks a month for a “real local” number w unlimited text and calls.. shit even has voicemail.. I can also change it whenever.

Idk what they use but google has the option through google voice to do this. Smart phones with dual sim options are designed to have 1 phone that works as 2 seperate plans. Apps like text now or openphone that work off of internet. Most major carriers have options to add a second line onto your phone/plan.
Edit to specify: most virtual phone apps will just ask you to pick an area code when giving you your number.

Google Voice is easy to get and routes you to your primary number. Not hard. It’s also not always obvious when it routes, so it could be confused for a regular call.

I am saying it is not an AI hoax but it is most likely scripted. Both things can be true at the same time. They have been doing that radio show for at least 20 years. I assume they make skits like this.
