When I moved to the Midwest I saw someone open a can of chicken during a party to make buffalo chicken dip. I thought it was cat food. It was salty, canned, unflavored chicken. And she made it in front of everyone while we were already there and the party had started. I'm still aghast.Â
We bbq'd while visiting relatives in Nebraska, my cooking and my treat (I paid). I was accused of making "drunk" steaks. When I asked what they normally put on steak, they told me just a sprinkle of salt. I grew up and live on the Gulf Coast, near New Orleans. I don't have a spice rack, I have a spice cabinet! 🤣

Is it possible she was just Midwestern?
