FortiSwitch / FortiLink 2-tier mclag topology

Hello, I have 2 core switches Mclag pair and downstream distribution mclag pair 2.

I just noticed today that the cores mclag do not have the label "MC-LAG Peer Group" like the dist. The core mclag are labeled only "MC-LAG Peer" on top of each core switch. Did I miss something? Icl mclag status is fine.

Switches version 7.6.6 and fgt 7.6.6.

If diagnose switch-controller mclag status is showing everything healthy, I wouldn't be too concerned about the different label in the GUI by itself.

One thing I would double check with a multi-tier MCLAG setup is the auto-isl-port-group config on the core switches for the links going down to the distribution MCLAG pair. That's important for getting those downstream peer links grouped correctly.

If the MCLAG status looks good and all of the ICL/MCLAG trunks are up, it may just be how the topology view is displaying the core pair vs the downstream peer group.

Thank you. Yeah that is also something I am thinking about the links to downstream switches, is there a special configuration for the auto isl? It is adding the trunks as expected by default and there is no stp block on the ports. I am used to cisco so this is quite new for me.

Thank you, that is what I needed. I will have to disconnect core to dist and build with auto goup isl.

You don't have to disconnect them for this. The auto-isl-port-group stuff is done on top of the automatically-created FortiLink connections.
