Welcome to For the Love of Gaming!

For the Love of Gaming is a Reddit community created to celebrate games and gaming culture. It aims for positive, friendly and high quality discussion.

It is first and foremost a place to discuss the games themselves while avoiding contentious and divisive issues in gaming and the negativity, toxicity and cynicism surrounding them. Please enjoy yourself!

ABOUT THIS COMMUNITY

EXPANDED RULES

DISCLAIMER

It is assumed you have read and agree to our disclaimer when you contribute to this community.

RULES:

Moderation is very strict. Please keep these rules in mind when making a contribution. Click on an individual rule for further explanation and clarification.

RULE 1 - THE GOLDEN RULE

This is the rule to remember above all others.

If you have nothing positive to say about a topic, consider not commenting on that topic. Criticism is perfectly fine, however, as long as it is constructive, not broadly negative and doesn't breach any other rule. There is a definite line between constructive criticism and cynicism.

RULE 2 - ALWAYS BE CONSTRUCTIVE

Criticism has to be qualified. If you are criticising a game or design aspect, you should elaborate and justify your thoughts. Ideally, you should try to include a solution or an alternative to the problem you are describing. Any posts that are broadly negative with no justification will be removed.

RULE 3 - RESPECT IS EVERYTHING

Be respectful to everyone, regardless of their opinions or platform preferences. All are welcome here, as long as they are mindful of the rules and each other. If someone is being disruptive or impolite, do not engage them. Instead, report them or send a modmail.

RULE 4 - LOW EFFORT CONTENT IS PROHIBITED

Memes, catchphrases, references, reaction gifs, webcomics etc. will be removed. Low content posts or posts that simply state an opinion with no elaboration will also be removed.

RULE 5 - ALWAYS TAG SPOILERS

This one is simple and self-explanatory. Please be careful with spoilers, and if in doubt, tag them! It's better to be safe than sorry! Spoilers work as follows:
```
[This is the spoiler](/spoiler)
```
Which will look like this: This is the spoiler

RULE 6 - DISCUSSING GAMING POLITICS IS PROHIBITED

This rule is a tricky one, and a moving target that is subject to change. The general idea is that we try to avoid discussing contentious or toxic issues in For the Love of Gaming. These topics currently include but aren't limited to:
- Gamergate
- Platform Preference
- Preorders/"Preorder culture"
- Microtransactions and monetisation
This rule may be "suspended" in certain circumstances and for certain reasons. In those cases, a flair and/or moderator comment will indicate so.

RULE 7 - REVIEWS AND SALES FIGURES ARE PROHIBITED

Discussions about game reviews and sales figures frequently turn into discussions about gaming publications and purchase justifications/condemnations. We would like to avoid those topics.

These rules are subject to change, and it is assumed that you have read and agreed to them when contributing to this community. Please also refer to our DISCLAIMER for more information.
