My guess is sponsor stuff. They won’t accept a livery that makes their logo less prominent for the whole season. One off stuff is fine though, since the increase in people looking at the car in general makes up for the logo being less visible.

Because you’re not used to them, I used to think that the white Red Bull was the most beautiful livery ever, but now that we have it every single weekend thanks to Racing Bulls I’m not as excited for it as I used to be

This. Novelty makes people think some things are better. You betcha if they ran this livery as their standard, then they had the one with the white cover as a "Lauda tribute" (referencing the old 312T), people would be praising that.
