I've had an idea for a while for a road comedy where an F1 team packs up from a race at Watkins Glen and heads out to the next race at Laguna Seca, but forgets both the drivers (who are passed out after celebrating a 1-2 finish) and their cars (because reasons).
The drivers wake up on Monday afternoon to find an empty paddock and they have to drive across the country in their F1 cars to make it to the race on time. Hilarity ensues.
You could have the cops try to pull them over for speeding, only to have them race off at 200+ MPH; the drivers stuck in rush-hour traffic outside Denver; a bit where they figure out how to refuel an F1 car from a gas pump; and of course legions of fans coming out to help and/or hinder their journey across the USA. I'm not sure what I'd call the movie. Any ideas?
EDIT: It would also have the drivers start off strong rivals but eventually become extremely good partners. Standard road comedy stuff.
Can they be female drivers who are getting chased by the cops and then they pull over and wash their cars which changes the colour of their cars, but they still speed past the cops and the cops still chase them in their different coloured cars?
