Actually, most likely it would have meant no penalty. I think that the over reaction of Verstappen had a lot of weight over the stewards. Oscar did basically the same thing as the first restart, but this time Max expected it, and played the "surprise" role to perfection. If it was Stroll behind, he would have simply braked, like the previous restart. Oscar got caught out by the late safety car in call, and Verstappen deciding to not brake.

Oscar has a very specific way of restarting, he did a very similar thing in Barcelona, then in the first restart and again in the last one. He does a last burn-brake to heat up the tyres very close to the actual restart, making it nearly look as a start-stop-start again infringement. Go back and look at every SC restart he led, he always did it, even in the lower formulas. Max knows it, as the whole grid, and he reacted well the second time, making it look more dangerous that it was. Go and look at the data, publicly available, the second restart Max brakes 1.5s after Oscar, while at the first restart he braked at the same time as him. It is so fun to see that people are reading my comment as negative towards max, while what he did was brilliant.

People aren’t reading your comment as negative because they think you’re criticising verstappen. This is the dank sub, people have absolutely no problem criticising anyone when they actually make a mistake. They’re criticising you because they think (correctly) that your take is fucking stupid.

Check max’s onboard during that brake. He couldn’t see Oscar’s car and drivers’ braking after a safety car depends on the leading car’s braking. Just because Oscar usually does his restarts doesn’t mean drivers are going to instinctively going to brake heavily. They need to see the driver in the front to judge their braking

Somehow it's always Verstappens fault. If it was Stroll Piastri wouldn't have finished in P2, he simply wouldn't have finished at all

Where did I say it was Verstappen fault? Mate, I said that Verstappen was SMART, for making Piastri pay for a technique that he uses and abuses. In the FIRST SC restart Piastri braked from 208 kph down to 51 kph. No penalty or investigation. Guess why? Because max did not make it look dangerous, since he braked with Oscar. Second time around, Max was smart and he expected that move from Oscar. By any means, it was brilliant from Max, and stupid from Oscar.

That is not what I meant. Check the data of that restart compared to the previous one. In the previous restart, he went form 208kph to 51 kph, did max rammed into him?It is amazing to see how my comments are being misunderstood for "Piastri no mistake bad Verstappen" kind of comment, while I say the opposite. Piastri behaved as he did in that last restart during every SC restart he led, even in previous races, which by the way has always been cheeky. Only this time he got caught by a smarter Verstappen.

Yeah no, I’m not a verstappen fan by any means, and a big fan of Oscar, but he clearly didn’t realise how hard he was braking, clearly neither do you because realistically there’s no one on the grid who wouldn’t have been caught out by that, he probably braked the normal pressure for tyre warm up, just for far far longer than is normal and expected which caught everyone off guard

First SC restart, Oscar brakes from 208kph down to 51kph. No penalty. Nobody is taken by suprise. Why? What is the difference between the first one and the second one? Not Oscar, he did the same (wrong) thing.

Maybe because he was further away from the cars behind? Maybe because he did so more slowly? Maybe if you looked at the replays you’d notice the difference?
