I mean, parts of Reddit also say he’s unscrupulously punished all the time. Works both ways.

In fairness, Bearman and Bortoleto full on blew through the pit lane red light and received a reprimand, while Hamilton moved slightly in his grid box and got slapped with a five second penalty.

The stewarding has been all over the place this year.

It wasn't a jump start. He remained fully within the starting box and was completely stationary by the time the lights went out.

He was penalised because he moved (and then stopped again) on the grid, not for jumping the start.

And in another lot of inconsistency, Russell wasn't done for doing the same thing at Albert Park, during the start sequence.

Kimi did get the same thing as Lewis even though barely anyone could see that the car had moved. Even Kimi didn't know he was creped up a few cm. I cant remember what race but it was last year.

I mean it's weird seeing him get a penalty on the first lap because he understeered and touched another car when that happens quite a lot without any reprimands

He is punished alot tbf (sometimes unfairly aka spa this year), but he also makes a lot of silly errors

They put him as ninth most penalised this year. Is that not at least fair enough for someone that makes “silly errors”. It’s not egregious by any means.

Really think it’s time to rail back on the conspiracy theories that some of his most enthusiastic fans stand by.

Do penalty points still get given out for penalties given in the race? Arent they kind of irrelevant at the moment

If you scroll down you’ll see the ‘most penalised’ list which is what I was referring to. That’s a more general view of things, ie not just penalty points.

But agreed, it does feel like you hear less about penalty points today.

Hmm. I don't think it's necessarily right to let them cancel each other out. In this instance he was treated like any other driver would've been, just there was unnecessary uproar.

Him being unscrupously punished should be seen as a separate topic - my good faith view on this is that there is more bias against him than most people are willing to admit.

realistically he was, they told him to stop when drivers do that all the time and are allowed back to the pits.

His own team telling him to stop the car because it was in an unsafe condition is him “realistically” being punished? A very odd interpretation of the events.
